i could need some help with a bug that has been reported to be in one of
my packages. According to #408823 my package removes a configuration
file when dpkg-reconfigure is invoked. I'm really wondering about this,
Hi list,
as you probably all know, conffiles from older package versions are kept
on package upgrades, even if the new package version does not ship the
conffile anymore.
How do I best get rid of such an old/obsolete conffile?
Simply delete it in preinst? Do I have to check if it was modified

This means, upstream version number is 0.3.2. Why did you chose 0.6.4?
I chose 0.6.4 to match the version

Hi all,
the hal-doc package contains the API documentation for hal. In the last
upstream release, upstream decided to use devhelp [1] for the API

The Debian audacity package needs some more attention than I have been
able to give it recently. I am looking for a co-maintainer or team to help
maintain this package, and possibly to adopt it from me.
Hi Matt,

solve the problem the NMU was targetting.

Thanks to Christian 'Greek0' Aichinger.
Is the use of --as-needed encouraged/discouraged in Debian? Is there a

Hi everybody,
if I add a dependency on util-linux because I need that /sbin/getty is
installed, why must this dependency be versioned?
If I simply add Depends: util-linux lintian complains loudly and issues
an error message:
depends-on-essential-package-without-using-version depends: util-linux

You could use autoreconf -vfi in the future. It should do the right
