the fix suggested there does not work.
the problem is that the package(s) in stable are called irda-tools and
irda-common and the current version

so forget about the sponsor thing, but you might have a look at it,

perhaps you should look for a sponsor (someone who would upload the
package for you), first.
otherwise you should not wait an arbitrary time to ITA, just do it. :)
