Dear mentors,
I have updated the package to the new upstream release 0.2.19:
New source control file location is:
dget -x
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/x/xnoise/xnoise_0.2.19-1.dsc
(Debian) changes since the last upload:
- Change taginfo dependency name accordingly [1].

the next upstream release came quite faster I thought, so I've bumped
the package on mentors to the 0.2.18 release:

Dear mentors,
I am looking for a sponsor for the package xnoise a lightweight and
fast GTK+ media player.
* Package name: xnoise
Version : 0.2.17-1
Upstream Author : Jörn Magens
* URL :
lightweight is spelled incorrectly in the descriptions.

Thank you!
I pushed an corrected version to mentors.
What I recognized so far: valac-0.20 isn't packaged in the archive so I
will prepare a update for the Vala compiler before xnoise sponsorship is
possible.

Dominique

Hello Alessandro Ghedini
- you should append something like (plugins) to the short description so
that it does not duplicate the description of the main package.
Done
- the -plugins package right now Depends on various -dev packages. I do not

Replaced them with binary packages in the debian/control file
Again, you don't need to manually add libraries to Depends given
Hello Alessandro Ghedini,
I tried to implement all your points. I reuploaded the packages to
debian mentors.
I have some comments to your testings, see below:
+ IMHO the Section should be sound instead of x11.

sound doesn't seem to fit right, because xnoise is a media player
and also does video. If you find something more fitting, please

Hello Alessandro
Duh. Makes sense... Some similar packages (e.g. banshee and amarok) are in
sound, but I can't say what's the best solution.
I'll look around what has been chosen for other media players.

Hello Jörn,
I have packaged xnoise without any lintian errors/warnings. Very good
work. Unfortunately I am not a DD. So you must search further for an
sponsor.
One tip: Instead of using in debian/rules:
override_dh_installman:
dh_installman debian/xnoise.1
it is better creating a file
Hello Joachim
Sorry for this. I will try to fix all this stuff as soon as possible.
I ran
lintian --pedantic xnoise_0.1.25-1_source.changes
and it didn't give me errors or warnings for the final version, which I
then uploaded. I must have done something very wrong, but I don't know
yet what it
