Asking because it was previously uploaded to experimental. I think so, yes. I didn't really intend to send the previous version to experimental and wanted to go back to unstable to get more feedback. However, there are some bugs which can't be solved as simply as installing roxterm-gtk2 instead of roxterm-gtk3. As long as these are Outstanding on the bug tracker that will stop the testing package being updated won't it? I don't want it to be difficult for anyone who finds version 2.x unusable to revert to 1.x. The bug has to have severity set to critical, grave or serious. I think the geometry issue is nearly grave (makes the package in question unusable or mostly so). IMHO you might want to keep roxterm pointed to roxterm-gtk2 until the bug was fixed, or enable the workaround by default. Anyway this is your package, you decide :) That's a bit tricky because the bug is in libgtk-3-0 and marked as affects roxterm. It might not be considered as grave in that package because it only affects a few applications (although they include gnome-terminal) and when used with what's considered to be a non-standard window manager. I think releasing to experimental would be the best option at the moment, so I'll upload a new version later. I might also need some help with #641123. It's to do with ${shlibs:Depends} and being able to support a new feature in a library where possible but also be buildable without the feature to support older versions. Would it be better to ask on debian-devel about that sort of thing? ${shlibs:Depends} should be set by debhelper to the minimum version required by this package upon version information from the library at build time. If you are using a feature that is only available after libvte9 1:0.28.1-2 but the dependency says 'libvte9 (= 1:0.24.0)' then it is a bug of libvte9 package. That is, more or less, what's happening, so I'll move the bug to libvte9. In case that takes a long time to fix should I manually override the dependency? -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-mentors-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Re: Report from the debconf11 sponsoring/mentors BoF.
Hello, I would like to confirm that I am still interested in dedicating some of my time to write code for debexpo. Serafeim, thanks for CC-ing me. I am on debian-mentors list already. I will look at the code, and probably have some questions. Idea of developing metrics plugin for collecting statistics and informations about sponsors and packages for improving mentoring process is interesting for me. I will just need some time to see how debexpo works. If there is no final decision of metric implementation, I will certainly have some ideas... Best, Janos On Mon, Sep 12, 2011 at 17:17, Arno Töll deb...@toell.net wrote: -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hi Serafeim, (keeping your CCs:) On 11.09.2011 23:56, Serafeim Zanikolas wrote: I understand that there's two sides in this effort: debexpo plugins that produce additional info about certain package features, and a repository of sponsors' interests/preferences/requirements. Do I understand correctly that you implement both things within debexpo? Are DDs expected to enter their preferences via the debexpo web ui? Yes. Debexpo runs certain plugins on incoming packages. Among those several QA plugins, which for example run Lintian, or check bugs being closed by the upload. Have a look to any given package on mentors.d.n to get the idea. On the other hand there are concepts and ideas to extend the mentors platform by social network functionalities to bring together packages with sponsors. Aside of the mentioned metrics, I am referring in particular to Lucas' idea here [1][2]. As far as I know there are currently no concrete plans to work on that though. Regarding the sponsor metrics: Yes, I do expect Debian developer to file their preferences via Debexpo web UI. The third key concept of the mentoring process is the package review itself. That's the part which is currently done by email on the debian-mentors mailing list. As we mentioned in the report you are all invited to join the current discussion going on there, how to improve the situation by moving the discussion part to the BTS (or not). My idea instead was to maintain DDs' preferences via an ikiwiki instance (using something structured like yaml), and make the wiki data accessible to debexpo via a REST interface. At the end of the day, it's up to whoever will do the work, but it's wise to remember that geeks prefer their favourite text editor than a web browser. I am not particularly thrilled by that idea. If you want to implement that, feel free to do, but I don't see any real benefit here. Really, I think I don't expect too much from a Debian Developer if I want him/her to register once in Expo and fill out a form if there is some general interest to sponsor packages. That's about two minutes of work if you have no free text to add. Also you should take into account, that human editable semi-structured data is error prone and lacks validation. Anyhow, thanks for stepping up, and whatever your approach, please share any code you have with Janos and see whether/how you could work together. Its all in our Git repository [3]. As usual I appreciate any contribution and we certainly need more help and good ideas. RFS: jthread
Dear mentors, I am looking for a sponsor for my package jthread. * Package name: jthread Version : 1.3.0-1 Upstream Author : Jori Liesenborgs (jori.liesenbo...@gmail.com) * URL : http://research.edm.uhasselt.be/~jori/page/index.php?n=CS.Jthread * License : MIT Section : libs It builds those binary packages: libjthread-dev - JThread cross-platform library headers libjthread1.3.0 - JThread cross-platform threading library To access further information about this package, please visit the following URL: http://mentors.debian.net/package/jthread Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command: dget -x http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/j/jthread/jthread_1.3.0-1.dsc This is an embedded library in minetest, so it would be good to have it provided as a separate library. I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me. Best wishes, Michael Gilbert -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-mentors-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? If you are using a feature that is only available after libvte9 1:0.28.1-2 but the dependency says 'libvte9 (= 1:0.24.0)' then it is a bug of libvte9 package. That is, more or less, what's happening, so I'll move the bug to libvte9. In case that takes a long time to fix should I manually override the dependency? Yes you can, just put the right version in Depends. However this means when building with older version of libvte one has to manually adjust the Depends field as well. -- Kanru -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-mentors-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. However I have checked it contents and it looks very good: I hope this message encourages sponsors to check your package. Thanks for the review. One comment: you require libswscale =0.14 to build, which is present in unstable but not (yet) in testing. It may be useful to specify the version needed in debian/control: libswscale-dev (=4.0.7) [or whatever is more correct] I changed it to build-depend on libav{codec|format..} = 0.7 a little nitpicking: There is a double @@ symbol in line 56 of your debian/copyright file Fixed. RFS: spotweb (new try, with get_orig_source for dfsg source)
Hi all, Please have a look at the latest version. I've implemented a get-orig-source target in debian/rules that gets the proper revision from github, removes the compressed js and css files and a non-distributable font file, and create the orig.tar.gz. I've also updated debian/copyright to reflect the new situation. The new .dsc is at http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/s/spotweb/spotweb_0~20110903+gitab1d95b4+dfsg-1.dsc Cheers Jan-Pascal -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-mentors-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
