The very first thing you do is file an intent to package (ITP) bug

Bug#676991: RFS: pyhoca-gui/0.2.0.0-3 [ITP #655603] -- Graphical X2Go Client System Tray Applet

2012-06-13 Thread Paul Gevers
I'm slightly surprised by these package-contains-broken-symlink lintian
warnings, as the package seems to have correct depends, so I've asked the
lintian maintainers about it. Please keep an eye on these warnings and
probably remove the overrides one day :)

This is probably related to bug 672297 (although then the description
should be updated if it is).

By the way, I believe that lintian asks not to override lintian warnings
if lintian needs to be fixed instead. I.e. if lintian produces a warning
that is a false positive and should be fixed in lintian, you should not
provide a lintian override. This is in contrast to false positives that
are difficult or impossible to fix in lintian, e.g. because your case is
a corner case.

If they know how to do so. Please keep in mind that we want new
contributors to subscribe to -mentors and we already throw a lot of
stuff to learn at them. Putting even more on that list might not be a
good idea.

So, I don't think those options accurately describe the choices. The
 options really are:

 1. Send useful bts discussion as well as verbose control messages to
 -mentors
 2. Send useful bts discussion to both -mentors and
sponsorship-requests, with verbose control messages to
 sponsorship-requests only

These two options would require listmaster@ to specifically filter out
messages that were sent to debian-mentors.

No, as far as I know the current plan was to change the maintainer for
the pseudo-package and then subscribe -mentors@ to only the discussion
part via the PTS (the bts keyword there, but not bts-control).

Hi,

Yes, two years passed since previous stable release of uHub.

Please ask on mentors or your former sponsor.

Unfortunately my regular sponsor (Dmitry E. Oboukhov) currently is busy.
Package is waiting for upload since the beginning of April [1].
RFS for mentors was done in beginning of May: http://bugs.debian.org/672290
But there was no any reply to it.

In the middle of May I sent [2] request for help to check build on s390/s390x
because I have no possibility to check it myself. There was no any reply.

New stable release of uHub happened in the end of May. It is more stable and
should be compiled fine on all architectures supported in Debian. I believe
this new version of program should be in Wheeze, but the freeze will be soon...

Now I am waiting any interested person who could upload the package or just
test build on s390/s390x. If it still FTBFS on these architectures I can
prepare the patch (but for this new version of package, not for previous).

Best regards,
Boris

But that's an annoyance I can opt in to. Currently, if I don't care

opt out, and filter them.

I don't like opt-out, opt-in is much friendlier. And as far as duplicate

  ledgersmb.manpages.
* Add the removal of empty example language specifc template directories

Uploaded. Some comments for the next time:

1/ I would not install the css and templates directories as examples.

Because the postinst requires those files and this will break for
people who are using dpkg's --path-exclude to drop /usr/share/doc/ (to
save space). Put them in /usr/share/ledgersmb/. The templates symlink

Bug#660128: RFS: heybuddy/0.2.3-1 [ITP] (16th week)

2012-06-13 Thread Daniel Martí
Build-dependency on python is insufficient. As per dh_python2
manpage, it should be (= 2.6.6-3~).

Fixed.

Similarly, Depends of the binary package is not sufficient. Please
 use ${python:Depends} (instead of hard-coded python (= 2.6)),
so that dh_python2 can generate the dependency automatically.

Fixed.

What is /usr/share/pixmaps/heybuddy.png for? Also, aren't files in
/usr/share/pixmaps/ supposed to be in XPM format? (Please forgive my
 ignorance on this subject.)

heybuddy.png is its icon image file. A quick scroogle search for debian
filelist /usr/share/pixmap png shows many packages shipping both .xpm
and .png files, and as there are no lintian complaints in respect to
that, I'm going to assume that's not a problem.

Shebang of the script is #!/usr/bin/env python.
#!/usr/bin/python is strongly preferred (see Python Policy 3.1).

Added a quilt patch to solve that, thanks.

 Copyright/license of CertificateValidatingHTTPSHandler.py is not
documented in debian/copyright. Is CC-BY-SA-3.0 compatible with
 GPL-3?

CC-BY-SA 3.0 is accepted by the DFSG, but not by the GPLv3. I've emailed
the upstream author about the subject. For now, debian/copyright has
been solved.

A new .dsc file is up at mentors.debian.net:
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/h/heybuddy/heybuddy_0.2.3-1.dsc

Thanks for your help, Jakub.

Bug#677433: RFS: capi4hylafax/1:01.03.00.99.svn.300-17 (adopted; hardenend)

2012-06-13 Thread Joachim Wiedorn
Package: sponsorship-requests
Severity: normal [important for RC bugs, wishlist for new packages]

Dear mentors,

the old maintainer allowed an NMU, see:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=653539#15
and after some mails in the last days he allowed me to adopt
his package because of lacking in time.

So I am looking for a sponsor for my package capi4hylafax.

 * Package name: capi4hylafax
   Version : 1:01.03.00.99.svn.300-17
   Upstream Author : AVM GmbH
 * URL : ftp://ftp.avm.de/tools/capi4hylafax.linux
 * License : GPL-2.0+
   Section : comm

It builds those binary packages:

  capi4hylafax - Faxing over CAPI 2.0 device

To access further information about this package, please visit the
following URL:

  http://mentors.debian.net/package/capi4hylafax

Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:

  dget -x

http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/c/capi4hylafax/capi4hylafax_01.03.00.99.svn.300-17.dsc

More information about hello can be obtained from http://www.example.com.

Changes since the last upload:

capi4hylafax (1:01.03.00.99.svn.300-17) unstable; urgency=medium

  * New maintainer (adopted).
  * Move to source formate 3.0 (quilt).
  * Generate explicit patches of old source changes.
  * Fix configure.in to work with newer automake/autoconf.
  * Optimize some fprintf params (thanks to M. Muehlhoff).
  * Fix datatype issue: use __WORDSIZE for checking 64 bit arch.
  * debian/control:
- Bump to Standards-Version 3.9.3.
- Move to build dependency debhelper (= 8).
- Move to build dependency libtiff-dev.
- Remove old versions in dependencies.
- Remove old conflicts field.
- Add recommended targets build-arch and build-indep.
- Enable hardenend build flags. Closes: #653539
  * Update postrm, preinst, prerm scripts. Remove old version checks.
  * Add postinst script to create /dev/faxCAPI as symlink.
  * Move default logfile to /var/log/hylafax directory.
  * Add logrotate configuration for logfile. Closes: #647164
  * Rename to filename capi4hylafax.init and move LSB INIT INFO to header.
  * Fix small typo in manpage c2faxsend.1.
  * Update all automake/autoconf files (autoreconf).

I sent a separate mail about some warnings from cppcheck and
compilation. These might not be blockers, but the following is, your
 package currently violates policy 10.1

The conflict is resolved by renaming ts to tsp.

The packaging looks OK now (at least I didn't find any problems). You
should probably choose priority optional rather than extra. Did you have
a chance to discuss those cppcheck warnings with upstream?

David

Unfortunately, I could not find your mail about cppcheck,
so I ran cppcheck by myself.
I think these warnings are fixable.
