Package: sponsorship-requests
Severity: wishlist

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package "runit"

* Package name : runit
  Version  : 2.1.2-11
  Upstream Author  : Gerrit Pape
* Url  : http://smarden.org/runit/
* Licenses : BSD-3-clause
  Programming Lang :
  Section  : admin

 runit is a collection of tools to provide system-wide service supervision
 and to manage services. Contrary to sysv init, it not only cares about
 starting and stopping services, but also supervises the service daemons
 while they are running. Amongst other things, it provides a reliable
 interface to send signals to service daemons without the need for pid-files,
 and a log facility with automatic log file rotation and disk space limits.
 .
 runit service supervision can run under sysv init or replace the init
 system completely. Complete init replacement provided by 'runit-init'
 package.

It builds those binary packages:

  * runit
  * runit-systemd
  * runit-sysv
  * getty-run
  * runit-init

This package succesfully builds on debomatic machine:

  http://debomatic-i386.debian.net/distribution#unstable/runit/2.1.2-11
Please note, that package is maintained with dgit(1) tool
using dgit-maint-merge(7) workflow. For more information about how to
sponsor this package, see dgit-sponsorship(7).

  Git repository: https://salsa.debian.org/runit-team/runit.git
  Git branch: master

With /bin/sh following commands should suffice:

  $ git clone https://salsa.debian.org/runit-team/runit.git runit
  $ cd runit
  $ make -f debian/rules get-orig-source # 'gbp buildpackage' is fine
  $ dgit sbuild

Changes since last upload:

  * Install contrib/runscript into share/doc, since
  + /usr/bin/runscripts conflicts with bin:minicom (Closes: #895607)
  + it is not part of runit suite, it is auxiliary script
  * Improve contrib/runscript (Closes: #873836)
  + fix typo: unprivilleged -> unprivileged
  + ensure that nested runsv processes are not left unmanaged
- Thanks: chrysn
  * Remove debugging code from runit.preinst (Closes: #881357)

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package "dh-runit"

* Package name : dh-runit
  Version  : 2.7.2
  Upstream Author  : Dmitry Bogatov
* Url  : https://salsa.debian.org/runit-team/dh-runit
* Licenses : GPL-3+
  Programming Lang : Perl
  Section  : admin

 dh-runit provides a debhelper sequence addon named 'runit' and the
 dh_runit command.
 .
 The dh_runit command installs runscripts and adds the appropriate code to
 the postinst, prerm and postrm maint scripts to properly enable/disable
 runscripts.

It builds those binary packages:

  * dh-runit
  * runit-helper

Alternatively, you can access package debian/ directory via git from URL:
https://salsa.debian.org/runit-team/dh-runit.git

More information about dh-runit can be obtained from
https://salsa.debian.org/runit-team/dh-runit

Changes since last upload:

  * Invoke runit-helper only if it is available. It ensures, that in
pathological case, when it isn't (piuparts), postrm script do not fail.
  * Bump compat version to 11 (no changes needed)
  * Update standards version to 4.1.4 (no changes needed)

ämh, sounds like you going to open up a new bug for the newversion, but
this is not the right way: If you upload a newer version, you recycle
the old one and just change title.

Thanks!

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package "storebackup"

 * Package name: storebackup
   Version : 3.5-2+nmu3
   Upstream Author : Heinz-Josef Claes
 * URL : http://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/storebackup
 * License : GPL-3
   Section : utils

It builds those binary packages:

storebackup - fancy compressing managing checksumming deduplicating
hard-linkin 'cp -ua'

To access further information about this package, please visit the
following URL:

  https://mentors.debian.net/package/storebackup

Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this
command:

dget -x

https://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/s/storebackup/storebackup_3.5-2+nmu3.dsc

More information about storeBackup can be obtained from
http://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/storebackup

Changes since the last upload:
  * Non-maintainer upload
  * New Upstream release
version: 3.5, (Closes: #721481, #883666)
  * Update patch fix-spelling-errors to match new upstream version
  * Fix shebang of perl-scripts to match debian policy
  * Update Standards-Version to 4.1.4
  * Fixed wrong link to shutter.git in vcs-*-fields
  * Remove broken debian/watch

Because I'm completely new to the debian packaging process, this is
"just" an NMU in the first step. Since I'm programming for about 20
years now, I intend to contribute the debian project by adopting this
orphaned package (and maybe later some more). But first things first,
and now I'm looking for a sponsor and a mentor to guide me through all
the Questions the docs can't answer.

I'm using debian for many years and now I think it's time to give back
what the project gave to me. So I spend a couple of days reading all
the packaging related docs and tried my best to build this package.

I've contacted the upstream author yesterday by email (without a reply
yet). The original debian maintainer - Ryan Niebur - seems to be not
available anymore. A comment in the BTS (#739135) from the upstream
author at 16 Feb 2014 says, that the maintainer did not reply to any
email.

Best Regards,

Bug#895729: RFS: mkl-dnn/0.13~20180406-ga5f6077-1 [ITP] -- math kernel lib for deep neural network

2018-04-15 Thread Lumin
Package: sponsorship-requests
Severity: wishlist
X-Debbugs-CC: debian-scie...@lists.debian.org

Dear mentors,

  I am looking for a sponsor for my package "highwayhash"

 * Package name: mkl-dnn
   Version : 0.13~20180406-ga5f6077-1
   Upstream Author : Intel
 * URL : https://github.com/intel/mkl-dnn
 * License : apache-2.0
   Section : science

MKL-DNN stands for "math kernel lib for deep neural network". I think this
library will be used in more and more machine learning / deep learning
software in the future.

The package locates at the master branch here:

https://salsa.debian.org/science-team/mkl-dnn

It was successfully built on DoM-amd64.

http://debomatic-amd64.debian.net/distribution#experimental/mkl-dnn/0.13~20180406-ga5f6077-1/autopkgtest

Here are some notes on this package:

1. Architecture: amd64

This is suggested by upstream (Intel). There are ports to other
architectures but they are not officially supported by upstream.

2. what's the relation between MKL and this MKL-DNN?

MKL-DNN is independent to MKL. MKL-DNN can be built with or
without MKL. When linked against MKL, MKL-DNN would get a performance
boost. Functionality won't be influenced if not linked against MKL.

3. why do you upload such a snapshot instead of a regular release?

The regular release 0.13 has a bug when working in Xen. That bug
is fixed in this snapshot.
