Bug#907838: RFS: 2 pkgs once part of emacs-goodies-el: bm-el/201808-1, mutt-alias-el/1.5-1

2018-09-02 Thread Nicholas D Steeves
Package: sponsorship-requests
Severity: normal

Dear mentors and Chris,

This is a joint RFS for two packages that were previously part of
emacs-goodies-el: bm-el/201808-1, and mutt-alias-el/1.5-1.  The Debian
Emacsen team is 96% done transitioning emacs-goodies-el to a dummy
transitional package, and I would like to finish this by 12th Sept, so
that users have four months to respond to the fact that we've dropped
a number of addons from the package. If something we dropped is
useful to someone we'd like to get it back into the archive before the
freeze :-)

Package name: bm-el
Version : 201808-1
Upstream Author : Jo Odland
URL : https://github.com/joodland/bm
License : GPL-2+
Section : lisp

It builds this binary package:

  elpa-bm- visual bookmarks for GNU Emacs

Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:

Package name: mutt-alias-el
Version : 1.5-1
Upstream Author : Dave Pearson
URL : https://github.com/davep/mutt-alias.el
License : GPL-3+
Section : lisp

It builds this binary package:

You need to give them unique names. If the body of a license is different,
so must be its short name.

Yeah, that's somewhat unpleasant, but the reason is obvious.

How to fix this problem? There are basically 3 different texts of BSD
licenses in source files.

I have already contacted upstream about manpage problems.

Uploaded.

Nitpick: these warnings are trivial to fix:
W: udfclient source: dep5-copyright-license-name-not-unique bsd-2-clause
(paragraph at line 37)
W: udfclient source: dep5-copyright-license-name-not-unique bsd-2-clause

Bug#907192: pre-RFS: tensorflow/1.10.0+dfsg-A1 [ITP] -- debian archve += 1 million lines of code

2018-09-02 Thread Lumin
Some updates about this pre-RFS:

Summary:
1. The README.Debian file is totally invalidated. Please don't review the
repo.
2. I switched to use python plus ninja for building Debian's TF, which
 may have a chance to evolve into the final solution.

On Fri, Aug 24, 2018 at 22:58 Lumin wrote:

>
> 2. any help will be appreciated, especially for CMake.
>

Well, currently the packaging repo is totally a mess since there are 4
sets of build systems. Don't review the repo before I remove three of them,
because no one except for myself can understand what's happening there.

Bazel, the native build system for TF, is impossible to enter Debian
release.

Initially I forked upstream's contributed cmake build because cmake
can build a complete libtensorflow.so and pywrap_tensorflow_internal.
However this set of makefile is too much complicated to read and maintain.

For simplicity I forked upstream's contributed makefile build. It only
compile a core set of functionality. However, it's not able to build python
wrapper. To extend the makefile build I wrote another set of makefile
from scratch, imitating the original makefile build. Finally I find it
obsecure to understand what happend when something goes wrong.

Eventually I started to write yet another build system with python
plus ninja-build with the experience obtained from the previous attempts.
I think there won't be the fifth build system since python plus ninja
just works like what I want.

As a result, the whole todo list written in debian directory was
invalidated by
such frequent change in build system. Please don't review any file in the
packaging repo.

The python plus ninja build system can produce libtensorflow_framework.so
now.

  * QA upload.
  * New upstream release.
  * debian/compat: Set to 11.
  * debian/control: Run wrap-and-sort -ast.
(Build-Depends): Bump debhelper requirement to match the compat level.
Remove autotools-dev and libgconf2-dev.
(Standards-Version): Claim compliance with 4.2.1 as of this release.
  * debian/rules: Enable all hardening. Remove --with autotools_dev.
(override_dh_auto_install): Remove gconf schemas stuff.
  * debian/patches/682432.patch: Refresh.
  * debian/patches/02-cflags.patch: Remove configure hunk; refresh and
remove -Werror. Fix typo in the patch description.
  * debian/patches/01-ldd.patch:

  * debian/patches/fix-autoreconf.patch: New, fix autoreconf failure.

GSettings (Closes: #885817). I believe the switch to GSettings also
closes: #631768 which was probably due to the fact that GConf does not
apply changes atomically.
  * debian/patches/export-private-key-crash.patch: New, fix crash when
exporting the private key (Closes: #855200). Thanks to Karl E.

  * debian/patches/series: Update.
  * debian/watch: New file.
  * debian/pixmaps/gnomint.xpm:
  * debian/gnomint.menu:
  * debian/gnomint.install: Delete.

Bug#907809: RFS: svg-labels/0.3.0-1 [ITP]

2018-09-02 Thread Miroslav Kravec
Package: sponsorship-requests
Severity: wishlist

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package "svg-labels":

 * Package name: svg-labels
   Version : 0.3.0-1
   Upstream Author : Miroslav Kravec
 * URL : https://github.com/kravemir/svg-labels
 * License : Apache-2.0
   Section : utils

It builds those binary packages:

  svg-labels - CLI tool for printable labels generation from SVG templates

To access further information about this package, please visit the
following URL:

  https://mentors.debian.net/package/svg-labels

Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:

  dget -x
https://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/s/svg-labels/svg-labels_0.3.0-1.dsc

More information about svg-labels can be obtained from
https://github.com/kravemir/svg-labels.

Changes since the last upload:

  * Initial release (Closes: #907647)

Following lintian warning will be fixed with next upstream release
(0.4.0), which is being developed, and will contain manpage, or
support generation of a manpage.

  W: svg-labels: binary-without-manpage usr/bin/svg-labels

Following lintian pedantic notices will be fixed before next upload,
as I intend to package these separately, and then add them as
dependencies for svg-labels:

  P: svg-labels source: source-contains-prebuilt-java-object
debian/java_lib/auto-value-1.6.jar
  P: svg-labels source: source-contains-prebuilt-java-object
debian/java_lib/auto-value-annotations-1.6.jar
  P: svg-labels source: source-contains-prebuilt-java-object
debian/java_lib/gradle-apt-plugin-0.18.jar
  P: svg-labels source: source-contains-prebuilt-java-object
debian/java_lib/picocli-3.1.0.jar

The built binary package svg-labels contains only executable JAR (with
included dependencies), and shell wrapper/launcher script. Therefore,
its dependencies list doesn't contain libraries. This will change with
one of future uploads, which would install also JAR artifacts.

Kind regards,
Miroslav Kravec

The fields are defined in Debian Policy:

How to package Berkeley Packet Filters

2018-09-02 Thread Gregor Jasny

Hello Debian Mentors,

I'm writing because I seek advice on how to properly package Berkeley
Packet Filter objects. I was not able to find prior art in any other
Debian package.

The v4l-utils source package contains a program called ir-keytable which
could be used to alter in-kernel infrared decoder tables. Recently a new
feature was merged into 4.18 Kernel that allows arbitrary protocol
decoding using the Berkeley Packet Filter: https://lwn.net/Articles/759188/

The ir-keytable source contains some BPF source files that gets compiled
into BPF code using clang:

$(CLANG) ... -target bpf -O2 -c $<

The result are the following files:

debian/ir-keytable/lib/udev/rc_keymaps/protocols/manchester.o
debian/ir-keytable/lib/udev/rc_keymaps/protocols/grundig.o
debian/ir-keytable/lib/udev/rc_keymaps/protocols/pulse_length.o
debian/ir-keytable/lib/udev/rc_keymaps/protocols/rc_mm.o
debian/ir-keytable/lib/udev/rc_keymaps/protocols/pulse_distance.o

I'd like to know if you have suggestions how to properly package them.
Where should they stay according to FHS? Should I keep the .o suffix or
should I replace it with something like .bpf?

Theoretically one could make an ir-keytable-filters package with
Architecture: all and Multi-Arch: foreign but I wonder if it's worth the
effort for 36 KB of data.

dpkg-shlibdeps seems to have some problems:

objdump: debian/ir-keytable/lib/udev/rc_keymaps/protocols/pulse_length.o: not a
dynamic object
objdump: debian/ir-keytable/lib/udev/rc_keymaps/protocols/pulse_length.o:
invalid operation
dpkg-shlibdeps: warning: couldn't parse dynamic symbol definition: no symbols

As well as Lintian:

E: ir-keytable: binary-from-other-architecture
lib/udev/rc_keymaps/protocols/grundig.o

Maybe a .bpf file suffix could help to accept those at certain
whitelisted locations.

Thanks for your input!

-Gregor

Formal definitions of Provides and Replaces

2018-09-02 Thread Andrius Merkys
Dear Mentors,

I fail to find the formal definitions (regarding API/ABI and files) of
Provides and Replaces fields of d/control, could someone point it out to me
please? In particular, if package A Provides/Replaces B, does that mean
that A MUST have the same API/ABI and files as B?

Many thanks,
Andrius
