Thanks for your attention. some of you may already be aware of it, Eucalyptus is an Open Source implementation of the functionality known to us from the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud. Together with Charles ple...@d.o I am sponsoring a series of packages of Eucalyptus for Debian. The effort is rather impressive, not only the sponsoring :) , in that the system depends on a series of packages in the Java world of which many have not been available to Debian before. So, Eucalyptus has a series of individuals keeping an eye on different subsets of those packages, and Dan is the one to keep an eye on it all. I herewith strongly support Dan's request to be accepted as a Debian Maintainer. He may not be the one to upload in routine, but whenever there is something to fix urgently or the routine uploader being abroad, we shall be pleased of Dan's offer to be available for our community. Well, it's also in Eucalytus' healthy self-interest. Looking forward to nice clouds over Debian Steffen signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature

Chris is one of the co-founders of Debian and if there was a Debian Director, then this would probably be him. Chris is both technical and strategically interested in Debian, wants to do good for our community, and the world at large. I very much hope, and kind of expect, to have Chris developing for full DDship over the upcoming months/years. What one does not see discussed too frequently, with Debian and its images becoming steadily more accepted for cloud usage, we will also see more applications brought to Debian. And whenever there are free components to it, there is speaking little against offering them through the official Debian channels. So, we really want to have Chris and his colleagues with us, as maintainers now and if one or two also become DDs, then this would be of tremendous benefit for Debian and the Open Source community at large. Well, what I wrote for Dan mostly applies also for Chris. Best, Steffen signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature

(please provide a 5-10 line summary). You are encouraged to take questions such as the following into account but you're not limited to answering these: - How have they contributed to Debian already? - What do they intend to do for Debian in the future? - How do they interact with others, such as users and other developers? I have known William for many years already - probably at least since 2005, and he was already interested in getting more into Debian. I have not directly worked Debian-wise with William, but know him from the Free Software activities in my country - and have talked with him several times. I have reviewed his currently sponsored work in Debian, and is very well kept, which speaks well about his personal abilities and motivation. Besides general GNU/Linux promotion as the LUG leader in Mérida, Yucatán, William currently maintains 12 packages in Debian¹, all of them with perfect QA as of right now. He was explaining to me his strategy towards choosing which packages to take over: By using wnpp-alert, he learns about packages he uses and which are orphaned. William tells me he is trying to fix the situation where many people have found it cool and trendy to upload a package to Debian, only to later abandon it. He is currently working in the security/forensic areas, and those are the areas he shows most interest in colaborating with in Debian. In short, I expect him to be a valuable addition to Debian. ¹ http://qa.debian.org/developer.php?login=bi...@billy.com.mx -- Gunnar Wolf • gw...@gwolf.org • (+52-55)5623-0154 / 1451-2244 signature.asc Description: Digital signature
