Hello, I am running debian sarge on a powerpc and not to long ago I ran
synaptic to update everything,I don'nt know what I did but now I X will
not run after I ran the update I rebooted and now all I get is a black
screen with the text login.
I tried to run startx but it told me that is was
Doesn't really seem to be a powerpc specific problem.
There are gazillions ways to mess up the X starting sequence. And I guess there
is no easy way to get around that.
So just the two basic possibilities you have whenever something goes wrong on a

Installed pbbuttons from testing fixed the eject button.
Moreover I seem to be unable to locate Ben Collins sound patch.

as oss got obsolete in kernel 2.16 I hacked together alsa support for
gtkpbbuttons. I guess it still needs some more cleanup / better error
handling but I am using it since a week in everyday usage without

As it is using the 'default' device I can now finally play many audio

However since the .deb packages of xorg 6.8.2 dissapeared, 6.9 and 7.0 will

now I have to redo the xserver can someone refresh my mind on that again?
the xserver tried to run but failed
