Hello, I'm trying to install Debian on a Thinkpad Power Series 820 machine PReP architecture with a 603e PowerPC processor, with no luck at the moment. So far, I've tried to boot the 4.0_r5 install CD, but the laptop hangs while booting. It does show the IBM ThinkPad Power Series logo with audio

apt-get build-dep mplayer, without removing DRI

Hi Christian, hi All On a Powerbook5,8: Please note that with the official Debian repositories in the sources.list a build-dep for mplayer does not work at all: -- # apt-get build-dep mplayer Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state

FWIW I have used both the 4.0r5 multi-arch, 4.0r5 net install, and 4.0r5 Xfce to install Debian successfully on a Power Mac G4 tower. It takes a few tricks from the magic bag, but I can confirm that the Debain disks work 'as advertised'. All my best - Chris Reich; Rochester, New York listen

Hi!Thanks for your info. I know the disk works because I've been able to boot a ibook G3. Maybe the problem has something to do with booting a prep machine. This laptop has scsi drives, both cdrom and hard disk. Could this boot problems have something to do with this having scsi drives?
