After looking at screenshots of X.org, it seems to be more graphically
up-to-date than XFree86. But, I have some questions:
1) Can X.org be apt-gotten? (otherwise, where and how)
2) How difficult is replacing xfree with x.org?
3) Any issues specific to the ppc architecture I should be aware?

When I try booting into Linux (the ppc version), I get Default Catch! when
yaboot reaches the Apple OpenFirmware screen. The boot process freezes at
that point. This is on a NewWorld iMac. Is there a solution less than

I'm encountering an error during dual-booting with Yaboot. After Yaboot
reaches the Apple OpenFirmware screen and prints this:

How do I enable Gnome sound so I can play audio CDs and MP3 files on my

Firefox 0.8 is acting oddly when trying to print with xprt-xprintorg

1) boot system
2) type xplsprinters and get a list of printers (hp940c@:64,

I 'discovered' a way for Gnome to use my CUPS printer. Before, Gnome
applications would only print to lpr. I discovered I could replace lpr
with xpp to bring up a great printer interface -- works like a charm.

I'm using the PPC Debian distro. I'd like to try gDesklets for my Gnome
environment. Does anyone have experience with gDeskets? I have a few
questions. I click on the gDesklets icon and nothing happens -- at least
no windows or sign of anything happening. What gDeskets work on a

I can't send mail from Kmail. Kmail says Can't send some messages and
leaves the mail in the Outbox. I'm using SMTP to send mail. I can send
mail from OSX, using Mail.app and from KDE, using Evolution. Why can't I
send from Kmail -- the configuration information is the same. Thanks.
