Looks like 31r1 includes 2.6.8. I have 2.6.8 on my PowerBook G4 and it works fine so probably it's a different problem. (I also have Ubuntu 5.04 with kernel 2.6.10 and it works fine too) I'm not an expert but you may try to boot from your cd and, when asked, digit install video=ofonly. I wa

What kernel do you have? This is similar to the problem I have with my PowerBook G4 when I install kernel 2.6.12 or 2.6.14; this should be fixed in 2.6.15 but I still have to try this new kernel. HTH, Marco. PS: I just installed an older version of Sarge, I think it was the Sarge Stable 3
