I'm attempting to install Woody on an Umax S900 (oldworld mac clone) and
during the base system install step of the install no matter what I do, I
end up with the error at the end:
debootstrap exited abnormally
with only one option below that - continue. However the word 'continue' is
poor

So either you jumper for cable select, or for master/slave. You better
don't
combine them.
So, do I put:
disk: CS
cdrom: CS
or

Both should have CS jumpered. In that case master or slave depends on the
position of the drive on the cable.
Hmmm, when I do this, I can no longer *see* the hd under macos9
cdrom is the first on the cable, hd comes second...

I have a Power MAC G4 that I added a Promise Ultra133 TX2 (uses the
PDC20269 chipset). I am having problems with this card getting
enumerated before the onboard IDE chipsets which hoses yaboot (which can
be easily worked around). Is there a way to have the kernel enumerate the
onboard IDE
Hi,
i've tried today's daily build of the powerpc netinstaller cd. This is a
G3 powerpc and i can't make it boot the cd by any means:
- pressing 'c' upon boot
- loading the OpenFirmware with the Systemdisk-Tool from the d-i install
guide and from there going boot cd:,\install\yaboot or going boot

Hi Clive,
If it's a beige G3 you'll need to use BootX 1.2.2
Thanks! that did the trick. Maybe it should be added to the d-i manual
how to tell what's OldWorld and what's NewWorld mac. I thought i had
a NewWorld one for some reason (well, just wildly guessing actually).

Hi,
If it's a beige G3 you'll need to use BootX 1.2.2
moreover, what's the reason, BootX can't be shipped on the CD?

Hi Brad,
thanks for the insight. In that case, why isn't that list shipped with
the d-i docs? Or is it and i was just too blind to see it?
Could there be a mini-tool or a script telling? Like you have a small
prog on the CD which you start and that would read Your mac is
oldworld, use BootX..

I don't know how to make a good vmlinuz image with initrd image inside; I'm
trying to use mkvmlinuz without results (the image is not created) and using
make-kpkg without results. the error
Hi again,
ok, here's the next problem. Now i have managed to get past BootX, even
past d-i, except that it failed at quix installation. So i thought, who
cares, i'll go for BootX with my kernel and a proper root= setting.. Yet

I haven't actually read the docs, but I would be surprised to see
such a list in them. Someone more
Hi all, I've got a friend who wants to put Linux on a 6300 with 48 megs of RAM,
CD drive and 2 GB IDE HD. (The 6300 totes a PPC/603 processor, by the way.) Does
anyone know if you can put it on the 6300, and if there are any issues with it
if you can?
Thanks!
