If Iceweasel needs Ghostscript to compose its Postscript/PDF, then I
guess it was supposed to at least suggest it.
Perhaps try remove ghostscript and libgs9 and see if Iceweasel
into the common or e.g. endian-specific Symbols snippet.
Thanks!

Great. But what about its licensing? I guess upstream treat it as
AGPL, so we may risk disagreeing with them if we choose to ignore that -
e.g. by treating it as too small to be copyright-protected.

Great. But what about
a change to cover rotation expressed as
90.0: http://git.ghostscript.com/?p=ghostpdl.git;a=commit;h=12ddbaa
(Yes, I am aware that ghostscript might be totally irrelevant here since
a libpoppler tool is used instead: passing this only for inspiration)

this bug really belongs to cups-filters.
It might be that an underlying bug is ghostscript rotating differently.
To debug that we need a way to reproduce with _ghostscript_ - i.e. how
to feed a postscript or PDF document to a ghostscript commandline.

,
then others less familiar with the tool can help triangulate what is
going on. As an example, I have ghostscript and (some parts of)
LibreOffice installed, but not cups-filters, so if the flaw is in
cups-filters then obviously my replicating the steps would fail.

ghostscript to TeX,
should rather be moved to it's own package, depending on both.
Another option would be to only suggest tex.

my point is not (necessarily) to elaborate more, just
to register issues so that we can reference them and track when the

Will do. Thanks!

relicense Ghostscript from GPL-3+ to AGPL-3+.
There is a real risk of users relying on current stable licensing, so we
need to ask upstream for relicensing of code we cherry-pick for stable.
Other than that, I see not problem in getting this fixed in stable.

Clearly, this isn't a good solution, as its nowhere near cross platform.

Maybe if we can get TIFFCONFIG_H overrided at build time, using
/usr/lib/$(DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH) <- that variable is availa
caled* devs to configure build
...which was fixed recently for the (not yet in Debian) 9.18 release.

replacing your initial "git clone ..." with "debcheckout -a gutenprint".
Hope that works better for you...
