I maintain tuna, a leaf package. Upstream is working on the py2->py3 migration. I expect it to be ready this cycle. I was planning to replace the py2 deps with that upstream release. I can release a stripped down (headless) version in python3 and I'll do that if my package is going to be removed, but I'd rather wait for upstream's py3 release. Can we set dates for removing packages so maintainers can plan what's happening? I suspect it wouldn't be hard to build a tree from an apt-rdepends graph to set up a schedule, guaranteeing all traces of python2 are removed by bullseye and defining the latest possible removal dates for each package in testing. DPMT: join request
Hi, I'd like to join the DPMT team. I plan to add tuna, a GPLv2 application for tweaking realtime performance to PAPT: https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/utils/tuna/tuna.git To do that, I would like to add its python-modular dependencies with DPMT: https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/libs/python/python-linux-procfs/python-linux-procfs.git https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/libs/python/python-schedutils/python-schedutils.git I also plan to research python-ethtool, and update it from 0.12 to 0.14 while also creating a (now) stable python3 version. If it's an orphaned project, then I'll bring it this group. I have read, understood and agree with the policy defined in: https://salsa.debian.org/python-team/tools/python-modules/blob/master/policy.rst Best Regards, Stewart Ferguson

Yes, I accept the policy. PAPT: join request
Hi, I'd like to join the PAPT team. I maintain an apt repository on my company's intranet and I'd like to contribute some of my work upstream to Debian. Specifically, I'm interested in adding tuna, a GPLv2 application for tweaking realtime performance https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/utils/tuna/tuna.git and its GPLv2 dependencies: https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/libs/python/python-linux-procfs/python-linux-procfs.git https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/libs/python/python-schedutils/python-schedutils.git While I'm at it, I also have scripts to update update python-ethtool from 0.12 to 0.14 which provides proper support for python3. I'd like a sponsor to help me out with this as I strive to become a Debian Maintainer. Thanks, Stewart Ferguson
