Fell off my todo list - pristine-tar/upstream now added everywhere.
Given the ongoing discussions about renaming main branches in git,
I've left debian/sid where it was used.

In your request to join email, you agreed to accept and follow our
policy, and adapt your packages to it. sadly that did not happen: all
your packages lack both `upstream` and `pristine-tar` branches, and
they still have `debian/sid` as main branch (which would be fine, but
you said you'd change it).

Please rectify the situation.

Request to join DPMT and PAPT to package devpi

2020-03-14 Thread James Tocknell
Hi Python Team

Can I join both the DPMT and PAPT to help maintain devpi (and its
associated subprojects)?
I've read both the DPMT and PAPT policies and accept them.
My salsa login is aragilar-guest.

My plan for devpi is to update devpi-common to the latest release, then
work down the list of devpi projects.
I plan on putting the projects under PAPT (apart from devpi-common), unless
there are other suggestions?

James

P.S. I've CC'd in the current ITP bugs for devpi, there will probably be
more as I package further projects.

Hello Python module maintainers!

I would like to join the DPMT.

We use quite a bit of python modules at work on Debian based systems
(desktops and servers). I have often packaged modules for internal use and
would like to bring packages into Debian where it makes sense.

Also it would make sense if I can help fixing issues which I/we discover.

I currently have an RFS open for python-opentimestamps, which I will gladly
change to be co-maintained by the team. (I am working on the
opentimestamps-client, but this is blocked by some other issues)

I have read

I am currently not a DD. My salsa-login is "hansto-guest".

Looking forward to working with you!

I found now the merge request from Yao Mei to the policy.
I have now a working setup with gbp.
But I noticed that the pyotherside git repo on salsa uses master branch

The documentation is out of date; we use gbp.

There is actually a parallel thread discussing this and it should

Also I have read and accept your policy [1]
I have no experience with debian packages in a git repository. And I

Request to join DPMT

2017-06-27 Thread Pierre-Elliott Bécue
Hey,

I'm currently working on packaging mailman3 suite. The work was halted until
3.1 got out. Now that mailman3.1 is out, I'm back into business! But there
is one missing dependency that requires to be packaged: aiosmtpd.

I offered Barry Warsaw to package it, and he suggested me that I should do
it into DPMT, and push the git repo on git.debian.org. For now, it's on
github: https://github.com/P-EB/python-aiosmtpd which is not the best
solution.

I tend to agree, and I hereby ask if you could consider adding me to the DPM
project on alioth. I'm currently neither developer nor maintainer, but I
intend to work on this issue asap. :)

My alioth login is peb-guest.

I'm eager to provide more intel and answer potential questions.

Cheers!

+1

I help out already with six and it would be nice to move that (and the others)
to DPMT.

Hi,

I'd like to join the Debian Python Modules Team. I maintain a couple of
module packages already that probably ought to be moved under the DPMT
umbrella (six, python-tblib), and I'm upstream for some others (e.g.
lazr.restfulclient, python-launchpadlib) where I could productively help
with maintaining the packages as well.

My Alioth login is 'cjwatson'.

accept it.

Thanks,

Hi Piotr,

you can now push it to our repo, welcome :)

Thanks!

* please use -v (and later: -p) with git commit (you sometimes commit
more than what commit message says)

Agreed, I'll be more careful.

* don't commit changes outside debian directory, use git-dpm to create
  patch instead¹

Are you referring to the "Repair line ending" commits? That was just the only
workaround I found after losing far too much time trying to get git (with
core.autocrlf = false) and dpkg-source to ignore the non-unix line endings on
two of the upstream files whenever I touched git-dpm update-patches. There must
be a way to do it properly but this seemed to work.

* PYBUILD_BEFORE_BUILD_* is used before invoking each² interpreter
version. Does it make sense to generate a manpage (overwriting
previous result) for 3.6, 3.7, 3.8, 3.9 and 3.10 when we will support
these versions? If not, please move help2man back to override_dh_auto_build
  target :)

Thanks for pointing that out, done.

Cheers,
Carl

Hi Piotr,

I've also packaged the python library colorclass which is one of flexget's
dependencies. For now I've put it up here if you'd like to also check that out:

My plan for the packages I intend to work on initially is here:

Re: Request to join DPMT

I just pushed some more changes to take care of most of the todos I mentioned.

The test suite now runs but there are a couple of errors and 1 failure which I
am looking into (but could use help with). I get [1 failed, 246 passed, 6
skipped, 3 xfailed, 2 xpassed, 7 error in 210.07 seconds] at this stage.

The only other remaining thing on my list is the executable situation.

Carl

Of course, and I'd be really happy to receive some feedback. I've just pushed
what I have here: https://github.com/arcresu/debian-cherrypy3

My todo list before asking for sponsorship here is:

  - carefully update d/copyright
  - build a doc package
  - investigate what to do with the executable (I think it's analogous to
flask's executable in the way it works so I'll mimic what is done for that
package if it makes sense); including fixing the
E:python-script-but-no-python-dep for the py3 package

  - run the test suite properly

Cheers,
Carl

Request to join DPMT

2016-11-08 Thread chrysn
Hello Debian Python Modules Team,

I would like to join the team with the rdflib package I'm currently
maintaining with Olivier Berger, and to work on dependencies thereof
(for python-sparqlwrapper, I've prepared a new version after discussion
on [761177]).

The rdflib package will need some overhauling while moving from a
different gbp style (branching off upstream vs. tracking tarball
imports and git-dpm), and I'm just making myself familiar with git-dpm.

I've read and accepted the DPMT policy[1].

My alioth user name is chrysn-guest.

Please grant me membership in the team.

Best regards
chrysn
