Hello all,

I would like to join the Python team to help maintain various packages
mostly related to Django. I am currently the maintainer for Django in

such as Django 4.0 in both operating systems.

My salsa username is @lvoytek and my email is lena.voy...@canonical.com

I have read the Debian Python Team policy
(https://salsa.debian.org/python-team/tools/python-modules/blob/master/policy.rst)
and accept it.

Thanks,

I would like to join the Debian Python Team to package some of my projects,
mainly sphinx-lint [1], but maybe also pospell [2], pogrep [3], and friends
created while translating the Python documentation in french.

My salsa handle is mdk.

I have read the policy [4] and accept it.

Request to join the Debian Python Team

2022-03-11 Thread Martin Günther

Hi all,

I would like to join the Debian Python Team. My salsa handle is
"mguenther" (the account is still pending approval).

The reason why I would like to join the team is to maintain the
"pass-git-helper" package, which is currently up for adoption [1].
Jochen Sprickerhof (jspri...@debian.org) will transfer the package to
the DPT and sponsor me.

I have read the policy [2] and accept it.

Best wishes,
Martin

I'd say post upload requests to the debian-mentors lists, or patches to bugs.
There's a freeze coming up soon, so RC bugs are especially valuable to
fix.

I'm afraid this path often isn't easy. It's definitely one of Debian's
weaker areas, but with good work and persistence you should be able to
get some uploads done.

Hi Stefano,
thanks for the advice, I'll definitely take a look into patching and
orphaned packages. As far as mentoring how would I go about doing that?
finding one that is.

Aside from a password reset, I'd recommend getting started by
contributing patches through the bug tracking system, or adopting some
orphaned packages, and getting some experience maintaining them. Ideally
finding some mentors to help you out, along the way.

We don't generally give people who are brand new to contributing to the
project commit access to hundreds of packages.

You should really not share your password like that (this is a public

Furthermore I would advice changing this (and similar passwords) in all
services where you use it.

Hello,

I am a retired DD that is planning to rejoin and am looking to join the
debian-python team for the purpose of maintaining some new Debian
packages. At the moment, this is the Octave kernel for the Jupyter
notebook and related packages/dependencies (like metakernel).

Definitely would appreciate any feedback / suggestions / tips on these
packages.
