Michael, I've been asked to try and mediate this bug.
Unfortunately, to do that, I'm going to need to ask at least one
question that Adam is already asked.  I can assure you that I'm not as
smart as you believe he is, so I really am going to need some help to
understand the situation:-)

What are the replacements?
Are the replacements init system agnostic?
I mean I can think of various systemd specific replacements and various
desktop replacements, but pm-utils is at a lower level than a desktop
and is init system agnostic.
Am I missing something or are those the sort of replacements you are
thinking of?

I'm also having a bit of trouble trying to understand how the various
hook directories work (power.d, sleep.d, etc).  If I install pm-utils
and use another mechanism like say systemctl suspend to suspend my
system, do the pm-utils hooks get called or not?
