Hi,

This package fails to build a source package after a successful build
(dpkg-buildpackage ; dpkg-buildpackage -S).

This is probably a clear violation of Debian Policy section 4.9 (clean target),
but this is filed as severity:minor for now, because a discussion on
debian-devel showed that we might want to revisit the requirement of a working
'clean' target.

More information about this class of issues, included common problems and
solutions, is available at

Hi,

During a rebuild of all packages in sid, your package failed to build
on amd64.

This is most likely caused by a change in dpkg 1.22.6, that enabled
-Werror=implicit-function-declaration. For more information, see
https://wiki.debian.org/qa.debian.org/FTBFS#A2024-03-13_-Werror.3Dimplicit-function-declaration

dvbackup fails to cross build from source, because the upstream Makefile
hard codes the build architecture compiler (and strip executable). To
make it cross buildable, those need to be substituted. Since debhelper
automatically performs the substitution, all that is left here is making
them substitutable. Please consider applying the attached patch.

Hi,

During a rebuild of all packages in sid, your package failed to build
on amd64.

This is most likely caused by a change in dpkg 1.22.6, that enabled
-Werror=implicit-function-declaration. For more information, see

Hi Bastian,

I've fixed the remaining implicit function declarations and related bugs
in GIT. Do you want to take it from here again?
We should probably fix the nonverbose build in this very special build
system, too.

Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

Picking important because tardy seems to've never built on x32,
and hence doesn't qualify for serious.

See buildd log:

https://buildd.debian.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=tardy=x32=1.25-1=1634152898=0

Attached are two patches. One fixes the problem itself by declaring
tardy_mtime() properly, the other fixes time_t-formatting-related
warnings (and, presumably, saves us from correctness erorrs and UB).

These make tardy build mostly-cleanly on sid. There's one warning left:
-- >8 --
g++ -Wdate-time -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 -g -O2 -ffile-prefix-map=/tmp/tardy-1.25=.

But that seems to be by design. All tests pass.

I tried to build for 1.28.D001-1 from the repository at
https://alioth-archive.debian.org/git/collab-maint/tardy.git.tar.xz,
but it seems liblzma-dev no longer provides BZ2_*() interfaces,
and tardy fails to even configure, so.

Best,

Bug#1068834: Removed package(s) from unstable

2024-04-12 Thread Debian FTP Masters
Version: 6.6.9-2.2+rm

Dear submitter,

as the package sopel has just been removed from the Debian archive
unstable we hereby close the associated bug reports. We are sorry
that we couldn't deal with your issue properly.

For details on the removal, please see https://bugs.debian.org/1068834

The version of this package that was in Debian prior to this removal
can still be found using https://snapshot.debian.org/.

Please note that the changes have been done on the master archive and
will not propagate to any mirrors until the next dinstall run at the
earliest.

This message was generated automatically; if you believe that there is
a problem with it please contact the archive administrators by mailing

Bug#1068834: Removed package(s) from unstable

2024-04-12 Thread Debian FTP Masters
We believe that the bug you reported is now fixed; the following
package(s) have been removed from unstable:

 sopel | 6.6.9-2.2 | source, all

--- Reason ---
RoQA; orphaned; NPOASR; very old
--

Note that the package(s) have simply been removed from the tag
database and may (or may not) still be in the pool; this is not a bug.
The package(s) will be physically removed automatically when no suite
references them (and in the case of source, when no binary references
it). Please also remember that the changes have been done on the
master archive and will not propagate to any mirrors until the next
dinstall run at the earliest.

Packages are usually not removed from testing by hand. Testing tracks
unstable and will automatically remove packages which were removed
from unstable when removing them from testing causes no dependency
problems. The release team can force a removal from testing if it is
really needed, please contact them if this should be the case.

We try to close bugs which have been reported against this package
automatically. But please check all old bugs, if they were closed
correctly or should have been re-assigned to another package.

Thank you for reporting the bug, which will now be closed. If you
have further comments please address them to 1068...@bugs.debian.org.

Package: sopel
Version: 6.6.2-1
Severity: serious
Tags: upstream

In bug #927481, I was bit by a bug that wasn't solved upstream in a
simple patch release. It would force me to maintain a fork of the
project for every supported debian release to fix any bug, because
upstream doesn't follow the semver.org convention of using "patch"
releases for critical bugfixes and security issues.

Instead, Sopel upstream releases x.y.z release with major changes in
"z" patch releases. An example from #927481 is:

> For example right now there is 6.6.4 release that fixes this bug:
>
> https://sopel.chat/changelog/6.6.4/
>
> ... but it also includes changes like:
>
> * Cleaned up code in instagram and unicode modules
> * Core modules now use bot.channels instead of deprecated bot.privileges
>
> Which couldn't be eligible for a stable update.

So I even though the original bug was fixed in the latest upload, I
don't think sopel should be shipped with bullseye until this situation
changes, especially since the package is orphaned.

Next step in this bug would be to open the discussion with upstream
about this, maybe this is something they could work on.

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package failed to install. As
per definition of the release team this makes the package too buggy for
a release, thus the severity.

Dear maintainer(s),

In Python 3.6, asyncore and asynchat have been formally marked as
deprecated. Code that imports these libraries will no longer work from
Python 3.12, which is currently in Trixie.

Since sopel uses either of these Python libraries, please prepare for
this removal and migrate away from them.

See this link for more details:

Package: el-get
Version: 3.1-1.1
Severity: serious
Justification: contains severely out of date metadata

I think we're not doing users of Debian any favours by shipping emacs
package metadata that was last updated in 2011. For this reason I
don't think the package is suitable for Buster in it's current state.
Of course I might be wrong, in which case please feel free to close
the bug with an explanation.

Package: el-get
Version: 3.1-1
Severity: wishlist
File: /etc/emacs/site-start.d/50el-get.el

As a suggestion, 50el-get.el could include the ".rcp" auto-mode-alist
setup which is in /usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/el-get/el-get.el

(add-to-list 'auto-mode-alist '("\\.rcp\\'" . emacs-lisp-mode))

Since this doesn't use el-get.el itself it can be done always, ie. at
the top-level in 50el-get.el outside its "package-dir" existence test.

Having this at startup gives a good mode if visiting .rcp files before
loading el-get.el as such.

Rewritten for improved English:

El-get installs and manage Emacs Lisp packages. It supports many
differents types of sources and is able to install, set up, update
 and remove them.

That means it will take care of requiring the features you need,
loading the files, making Info documentation available, and
optionally calling your own :after function to set up each extension.

Package: el-get

el-get 3.1 fails to byte-compile on systems with xemacs21 installed,
as its simple.el (for whatever reason) neglects to (provide 'simple):

While compiling toplevel forms in file
/usr/share/xemacs21/site-lisp/el-get/el-get.el:
!! error (("Required feature simple was not provided"))

However, the file does still exist, so substituting load for require
should help:

(load "simple" nil t)

Could you please look into it?

Thanks!

following in my ~/.emacs:

(autoload 'el-get-emacswiki-refresh "el-get" nil t)

(autoload 'el-get-update "el-get" nil t)
(autoload 'el-get-update-all "el-get" nil t)

Please, consider adding something like this to the startup file
50el-get.el.
