No chance. There is more information in the recent threads on the debian-kde
mailing list.

IMHO KDE 4.5 fixes many annoying bugs including common Plasma crashes sce.
I think it's much better candidate for the stable release of Debian.

All new releases fix bugs and they all introduce new (annoying) ones. But the
main reason is that rules are rules: freeze is in effect and there is no
workaround for the limits it imposes.

Is this squeeze material?

I haven't exerienced any annoying bugs in 4.5 so far.
And there are plenty of them in 4.4.5 - mainly plasma crashes f.e. when you
dragdrop a quick lunch icon on itself instead of clicking it (very common
situation).

But the main reason is that rules are rules:

Probably the freeze date was a wrong choice then. KDE 4.5 release schedule
was well known after all.
Does Debian not care about KDE users anymore?

I just think that KDE 4.4.5 is not stable enough to be in stable branch of
Debian. Version 4.5 is just a fix for this situation. And many other users
agree with that.

I hope so. I've not pushed s-c-p into unstable since I'd break

Well, what about GNOME users, MySQL users, Apache users, Subversion users,
Midnight COmmander users, ...
There is always some release that would be nice to have in the near future.
Waiting for those leads to no freeze at all. I think 4.4.5 is a better choice
than 4.5.0. In 4.5.0 you have the kdepim issue with some release around KDE
4.5.2 or so.

I just think that KDE 4.4.5 is not stable enough to be in stable branch of

4.5 is not just a fix. It's a new release with new issues. And here 4.4.x
runs smoothly since 4.4.2 or 4.4.3. So, there might be many that have
crashing issues, but there also are many without major problems in 4.4.5.

If we were given an isolated patch, we could include it in the packages.

The freeze date was not a choice of Debian Qt/KDE team. It had to happen some
day and it happened.

 KDE 4.5 release schedule
 was well known after all.
Does Debian not care about KDE users anymore?

Just Debian is too big to care *only* about KDE users. To be honest, if you
use Debian on the desktop system, you'll probably end up using
testing/unstable anyway. Even if the latest 4.5.x was released with stable, it
would get old in a single month. Stable is perfect when you do NOT want
software to change. That's servers, workstations and other deployments where
the latest KDE is not important at all.

I just think that KDE 4.4.5 is not stable enough to be in stable branch of
Debian. Version 4.5 is just a fix for this situation. And many other users
 agree with that.

4.4.5 crashes occasionally when I push it too hard, I still encounter some
bugs. But really, that's nothing major or release-critical.

Just ask if they agree to accept a new package to squeeze (which they might
refuse as it isn't exactly by the rules of freeze).

Btw, I didn't understand where you wanted an upload to happen? If
experimental, then I would say feel free to NMU with your change only if
that's what's needed to persuade release team. If unstable, please don't NMU.

koffice override disparity

2010-08-14 Thread Archive Administrator
There are disparities between your recently accepted upload and the
override file for the following file(s):

koffice-dev_2.2.1-3_amd64.deb: package says section is kde, override says
libdevel.

Please note that a list of new sections were recently added to the
archive: cli-mono, database, debug, fonts, gnu-r, gnustep, haskell,
httpd, java, kernel, lisp, localization, ocaml, php, ruby, vcs, video,
xfce, zope. At this time a script was used to reclassify packages into
these sections. If this is the case, please only reply to this email if
the new section is inappropriate, otherwise please update your package
at the next upload.

Either the package or the override file is incorrect. If you think
the override is correct and the package wrong please fix the package
so that this disparity is fixed in the next upload. If you feel the
override is incorrect then please file a bug against ftp.debian.org and
explain why. Please INCLUDE the list of packages as seen above, or we
won't be able to deal with your request due to missing information.

Please make sure that the subject of the bug you file follows the
following format:

Subject: override: BINARY1:section/priority, [...], BINARYX:section/priority

Include the justification for the change in the body of the mail please.

The RSS feed at http://habrahabr.ru/rss/ (that I was reading for years) for
some reason became unloadable/unparseable in Akregator in the latest days. That
is, when it is added to the feed list, Akregator/Kontact cannot load any
messages from it; if I try to remove it from the RSS list and readd again,
Akregator fails on Downloading http://habrahabr.ru/rss/; phase with Feed not
found from http://habrahabr.ru/rss/.; message. The other RSS readers can load
the messages right, nevertheless (just tried Opera bultin RSS reader).
After a quick glance at the content served by the http://habrahabr.ru/rss/ URL,
it seems to be proper RSS, though I am not enough proficient in feed to be
fully sure. This might be the problem of the contents anyway, though it would
be good to get the understanding what the problem is, to notify the site owners.

Package: ktimetracker

*** Please type your report below this line ***

Hello,

when the Track Active Applications option is checked in the clock menu
it is not possible to delete any active task because a task for the
Deleting Task window is created and selected; so, when deleting, I can
only delete that given task and not what I want to delete.

Here are the steps to reproduce the bug:

1. Open Kontact

2. Go to Time Tracker

3. Menu File - New (Ctrl+N)

4. Menu Task - New Task (Ctrl+T)

5. create the task, name it e.g. test task or whatever

6. Menu Clock - Track Active Applications

7. select the previously created test task

8. Menu Task - Delete (Del)

now you won't be able to delete the task.

The solution is to uncheck the Track Active Applications, then delete
the task and recheck the Track Active Applications. Indeed, it would be
useful if this behavior were not present.

I am using ktimetracker inside kontact.

Thanks.

Hi,

starting with the upgrade of Debian SID to KDE 4 the mouse double-click
selection
no longer works like expected.

It seems that all word characters configured in the advanced dialog (Mouse
Interaction)
of the current shell profile are ignored. Only a whitespace character seems to
work
for double-click selection.

My current Mouse Interaction settings which worked for KDE 3.x:

 :@-./_~?=%+#

Best Regards

Martin

If one updates a contact's address the address on the preview pane (the right-
hand side on my installation) doesn't update. In fact, the outdated address
still shows even if one removes all mention of the old address.

Investigating the underlying .vcf file reveals that there is a
codeADR;TYPE=home;TYPE=pref:;;address goes here/code field which stores
the correct address and another codeLABEL;TYPE=home;TYPE=pref:/code field
which stores the outdated address.

when generating new sudokus, I sometimes get unexpected results. In this run, I
always generate hardest level, no symmetry, but the actually generated levels
often are not what I wanted.

Especially this one is strange: Same difficulty as normal for hardest level but
far too many values given.

Package: kmail

If I compose a new message and press Enter with the cursor in the
message body, a new paragraph is created. This means that in the HTML
source code the sequence /pp is inserted. In the plain text version,
just a newline character is inserted.

In my opinion, this behavior concerning plain text is not very nice. It
is usual practice to insert a blank line to denote the beginning of a
new paragraph since otherwise you cannot distinguish between paragraph
changes and ordinary linebreaks. (An ordinary linebreak would occur,
for example in this text:

Best regards,
Wolfgang Jeltsch)

On the other hand, KMail *displays* the HTML paragraph changes (/pp)
by inserting a blank line. But this is ugly, in my opinion. KMail
should use a smaller gap between the paragraphs. Inserting blank lines
is a solution for plain text where no smaller gaps are possible.

So pressing Enter should result in /pp in the HTML source code which
should be displayed via a small gap between the paragraphs, and it
should result in a blank line in the plain text version.

In addition, it should be possible to insert ordinary linebreaks. These
should result in just a linebreak in the plain text version of the mail
and in br/ in the HTML version. Paragraph changes are bad for things
like the Best regards example above. It would be bad to have a blank
line or even a smaller gap between Best regards, and Wolfgang Jeltsch,
and in addition it would be semantically incorrect to have both strings in
different paragraphs.

Bug#508634: okular: Does not exit full screen mode

 Hi,

 you reported http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=508634 some
 time
ago. Since then, KDE Software Compilation had several releases. Can you
 please
verify whether the bug you reported is still present in a more current
 version
(and - if yes - specify which version)?

It's still present in the version currently in Debian unstable, Debian
version 4:4.4.5-1. The form may have changed slightly. The way I
would currently describe it is that if you quit okular while it is in
full screen mode, the next time you start it it will enter full screen
mode (which is reasonable), and then when you exit full screen mode
okular keeps all the same settings, namely, window size just larger
than the screen resolution and no menu bar. It thus appears to still
be in full screen mode, but if you understand that this is what's
going on, it's easy to work around. I would rate it as a 'minor' bug
at the moment.

Best,
Dylan Thurston
