When using krec there is no way to record input from microphone
(connections are OK between micro and soundcard). The problem is
with arts:
1) Kec: Tools menu -- sound manager says that KRec::In, Record,
in_soundcard. No way: record levels
I do not know of a way to test this without KDE (the command-line
resolution changer I know of, needs to be manually re-run every time..
and the problem appears only after logoff and logon in KDE).

Ehm? rising severity to grave only for ATTENTION??? Yeah,
attention for pet bugs is the reason why the grave severity
exists...
I fear you misunderstood my mail.
Getting attention for this bug was only a secondary objective of rising the
priority. The first was

Adeodato was right: mandrake has a patch for it, since kdeutils is GPLed, I
hope (and i think) it's ok to take this patch for debian as well.
Mandrake's patch is for 3.2.3, but it works almost perfectly for 3.3.1 as well
