even to me happened this issue. Actually on my laptop, on the first screen.
If you have an ATI graphic card, maybe you can try to fix it by
- login as root to a console
- aticonfig --set-pcs-str=DDX,ForceXAA,TRUE
- restart the X server
For me it worked. Actually it is a solution for black

KDevPlatform 1.1 isn't even released upstream yet (beta 2 came out recently).
When it's released, I doubt it will go into Debian squeeze anyway, due
to the freeze, so you'd have to get it from experimental or wherever
it goes.
