I am hit also by this, e.g. no systray or alt+f2 not finding anything.
I took a deeper look at this and I think the
file contains a future plugin version:
gdb -batch -ex 'file
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/plugins/plasma/applets/org.kde.plasma.systemtray.so'

I hit this same problem. The easiest workaround is to just upgrade everything to
unstable (I did this and it fixed the problem). A better workaround is to
upgrade
all KDE packages to unstable (I cannot confirm this works, because I didn't do
it).
