The ones that have been rebuilt with Ubuntu-specific patches don't
reference libcap in their relevant changelog entries.

I'm not sure if my initial list was complete though. I didn't check for
 reverse dependencies of libcap-dev.

I have rebuild the 16 packages in sid today with -j8 and all of them
succeeded except:

hercules (succeeds without -j8)
miredo (though looks like #660488)
proftpd-dfsg (succeeds without -j8)

So to summerize - no new FTBFS. Haven't tested other aspects of the
packages.

Thanks! I looked at the reverse dependencies of libcap-dev and
libcap2-bin now and according to apt-cache the only additional one that
was not rebuilt yet is i3status. I just checked and it builds fine here
in a sid chroot. libpam-cap doesn't need to be considered, because it's new.

Best,
Tobias

libcap2 has a lot of reverse dependencies, so it should better have
 multiarch support.

Actually, the number of reverse dependencies is more of a reason /not/
to make such changes, particularly during a freeze. The main reason I'm
not saying no straight away is that one of those reverse dependencies is
ia32-libs and there's a good chance that a number of the others have
already been successfully rebuilt against the multi-archified libraries,
given -1.1 was in unstable since May.

It would be helpful to know if any of the reverse dependencies haven't
yet been rebuilt against the new version.

One thing that does concern me - and I realise was raised in the
original libcap2 bug report - is the possibility of users with automatic
installation of recommends disabled upgrading from squeeze and losing
the split-out PAM module. libcap2-bin's r-depends are indeed very
small, but via gnome-keyring they transitively include gnome-core so
it's difficult to know how many people might be using the PAM module
without having explicitly installed libcap2-bin.

Regards,

Adam

I ran the attached script that returns the latest changelog dates for
the reverse dependencies of libcap2 as given by apt-cache on wheezy. You
may want to repeat that with dak, which is more accurate I think.

The script fails to download the changelogs of packages named lib* so I
checked them manually.

The first lines in the output are about packages that are not in wheezy.

The result is that the following reverse dependencies didn't receive
updates since May 13:

libzorpll
