mangle error using Shorewall v 1.4.5 on kernel 2.4.18-bf2.4-sun4u

2003-07-03 Thread John Hedge
Ive installed Shorewall on my Ultra1 running Woody (2.4.18-bf2.4-sun4u). Im getting the following error message when I try to start Shorewall: can't initialize iptables table `mangle': Table does not exist (do you need to insmod?) Perhaps iptables or your kernel needs to be updated.

John, I have been working on this same problemall night. I have just found out what the problem is. The disk images, I downloaded and used just two days ago, are Debian. But it turns out that this new disk image does not have a 2.4 kernel. Instead it has a 2.2 kernel which does not support

So it is exactly the same. Maybe the kernel cannot start for some reason. The kernel used here is the one in woody (e.g. 2.4.18) The person who would know best about this is out of town for July 4th. Next week I'll try to find out more about v210 and Linux. Nothing's changed in SILO that would

Hi, Following up to my previous Sun v210 related message. I've tried to boot a 2.4.21 kernel and now it's something better. Linux started to boot, and at the end it terminated with a message Neither SBUS nor PCI found. Can anybody help me? The box definitely has a PCI slot, I'm not certain

Upgrade of kernel to 2.4.18 fails

I just did an apt-get of the new 2.4.18 kernel. During the install of the package there was an error about not being able to run modprobe. I allow the install to abort the first time, then I tried it a second time, this time without the abort. In both cases when SILO goes to start I get the

Huh? I'm guessing you installed the latest stable version (though it's hard to know, since you never mention what version gave you trouble). It says right near the top of the release notes: At install time, the kernel used is 2.2.20, however a 2.4 kernel, the latest stable branch is included
