Problème de dépendance (exim4 postfix) avec libsasl2-2
Bonjour, Depuis la dernière version de libsasl2-2 (2.1.24~rc1.dfsg1+cvs2011-05-23-6), mon système veut supprimer postfix pour remettre exim4 !!! Visiblement, par rapport à la version précédente (23-5), les dépendances ont été changées, ce qui ne me semble pas vraiment normal. J'ai cherché dans les bugs de libsasl2-2, mais je n'ai rien trouvé... Avez-vous des informations complémentaires sur ce sujet ? Merci d'avance. Xen 4.0 sur dedebox pro

finch et transfert de fichier
Bonsoir, Je découvre finch mais, avec un compte msn (aïe pas tapé!!), il est impossible d'envoyer un fichier. Mon correspondant ne reçoit aucune demande quant à cet envois, au bout de quelques secondes, la fenêtre Transferts de fichiers m'indique l'état annulé J'ai ouvert sur mon routeur le port 1863 mais cela ne change rien... Chez OVH, tu dois pouvoir à partir du manager rétablir le boot de ton dom0. Désactives temporairement le boot de tes domU par précaution. Sinon re-installé ton dom0 à partir d'une squeeze: c'est rapide et sans difficulté. Après tu reprends tes domU sans soucis. C'est ce que j'ai fait une fois lors d'une migration Xen (de xen3 vers Xen4 de lenny--squeeze) qui s'était mal passé: comme toi problème avec grub : plus de boot du dom0. Sinon j'ai jeté un oeil intéressé à LXC récemment et je crois qu'il y a encore quelques limitations gênantes (dans squeeze) : - pas de possibilité d'attribuer le nombre de processeurs (ou coeurs) désirés à tel ou tel conteneur. - pas de possibilité de fixer la quantité de RAM Peut-être d'autres plus avertis pourront confirmer ? Ubuntu permet de le faire avec ecryptfs et les cd alternatifs avec LUKS, L'installateur Debian utilise LUKS+lvm pour fournir un système entièrement crypté (pas seulement le ~). Hola, Necesito compilar el kernel actual de Debian wheezy activando algunas opciones para depurar un problema con la tarjeta inalámbrica y así poder enviar esta información a los desarrolladores. No he compilado nunca antes el kernel, así que tengo que tirar de manual y he pensando seguir estos pasos: 8.6. Compiling a New Kernel http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/i386/ch08s06.html.en ¿Alguna sugerencia, advertencia o recomendación que deba tener en cuenta? Pues no :) Si lo haces (que no tienes obligación) a la Debian way verás que es bastante aburrido (tres comandos y ya está). Si tienes una máquina decente acabará rápido. Yo, por manía o costumbre de muchos años atrás, siempre uso el make menuconfig (en modo texto) para configurarlo, aunque también tienes disponible la configuración en modo gráfico para X e incluso gnome. Que va... con las opciones predeterminadas tienes el kernel vainilla, o sea, un mundo de módulos y dudo mucho que no arranque. En tiempos yo me preparaba núcleos a medida para cada máquina, solo con los diverso que necesitaba y compilado en estático, y haciéndolo a la Debian no recuerdo ninguno que me fallara. DTM si cuando lo instales no arranca, siempre puedes elegir el anterior cuando te pregunte el grub. Respecto a la configuración en gtk/gnome, creo recordar que se invocaba con make gmenuconfig. Consulta por teléfono Motorola Zine Zn5 y Linux
Hola listeras/os, quería saber si alguien tiene dicho celular porque aparentemente dicen que tiene SO Linux, no sé bien a qué se refiere con eso por lo que averigué sólo dice SO basado en Linux. Es un celular mediano que reproduce música en mp3 y tiene una muy buena cámara de fotos, estoy buscando un celular porque el que tengo ya está está bastante roto, y de paso consigo uno que tenga SO basado en linux, con cámara y música. Saludos, Hola, Si dejas un kernel pelado de opciones, es decir, unicamente con lo que necesitas, lo notarás no solo en el tiempo de compilación, si no también en el rendimiento general del sistema, realmente merece la pena echar un rato leyendo las ayudas de las opciones e ir quitando las que no necesitas, que son muchas. He seguido al pie de la letra los pasos del manual, y en la configuración he dejado todo como estaba y sólo he añadido dos opciones relacionadas con la depuración del los drivers staging. (sí, ya sé que existe Google y encuentro un montón de entradas relacionadas con este error pero no puedo ir probando cada cosa que veo porque cada prueba me va a costar 6 horas... tengo que ir a por algo seguro o me puedo quedar calva esperando a que me aparezca otro error) Como que cada error te va a costar 6 horas?? Saludos, -- Camaleón En el directorio boot tienes el config que te genera el menuconfig guarda una copi y resliza tus cambios con confianza y si te llega a faltar algo, bastará con una comparación de ambos archivos (son de texto plano) para localizar lo que falte. En cuanto a qué significa cada cosa que quites o pongas, wikipedia es una excelente guía, en español e inglés. Toma en cuenta lo que te sugirió Juan Antonio y el hecho de que la configuración del kernel que vayas depurando la puedes ir usando con nuevas versiones. debian install mirror does not support the specified release
Alguien sabe si los repos de debian squeeze x64 estan fallando? Al momento de querer realizar una instalacion de sistema en un nuevop equipo obtengo el error: debian install mirror does not support the specified release Probe con tres imagenes: Una NetInst descargada hoy, una de hace un mes y un el debian cd1. Configuração de modem usb.
Saudações. Tenho um modem Huawei (Não dá pra ver o modelo agora pq ele está ligado no note com rWindows compartilhando internet para o Desk, mas o modelo não será relevante agora) com plano de internet da claro. Quero colocar esse modem para funcionar no meu Desk com Debian64. Mas além de colocá-lo para funcionar quero entender o funcionamento para que eu possa colocar qualquer outro modelo de modem usb, então não quero receita de bolo para esse modelo. O problema é que não sei bem por onde começar. Vi alguns artigos que dizem que o modem deve ser reconhecido automaticamente como /dev/ttyS0, mas isso não ocorre com o meu, já verifique a existência do módulo usbserial e está carregado. Preciso de material que detalhe melhor o funcionamento de usb como serial. Alguém tem ou sabe onde consigo material técnico sobre o assunto? Em português, preferencialmente. Bem, pra poder lhe responder é importante saber qual versão de linux você está usando. Caso seja debian 6.0 (squeeze) ou ubuntu 11.04 é muito provável que apenas seja conectar e usar. Na verdade não ... Basta habilitar o framebuffer [1] e utilizar o mplayer. Existem outros aplicativos pra utilizar em modo texto. Veja os pacotes: caca-utils (visualizador de imagens) links2 (navegador, com suporte a imagens, execute com links2 -g) mplayer (player de vídeos) alsa-utils (contém os programas alsamixer e amixer, que controlam o volume da placa de som, via interface ncurses e linha de comando respectivamente) Pra videos como o youtube, você pode utilizar um programa como o youtube downloader [2], que baixar arquivo SWF e converter com o mplayer. Talvez o mplayer toque SWFs direto sem conversão, não sei ... PAE Kernel to generic
Dear All, recently, I have upgraded kernel version from 2.6.32 to 2.6.39 through synaptic on my laptop. Now, not able to compile ALSa package as it says that no kernel module found. after searching in google, i found out that this is because of *pae kernel* which required for the system more than 4GB Ram. I have 2 GB Ram and i need to switch back to generic kernel version, how i could do that? Regards, Sudhi

I do not know enough about awk nor about the structure of .so files to say how to change it though. Simplified working of the script: The line for x in $(objdump -d $DRIVER|awk '/call//EnableLogo/{print \\x$2\\x$3\\x$4\\x$5\\x$6}'); says for every item in the result of running the awk command, name the item x and then go on. The line sed -i s/$x/\x90\x90\x90\x90\x90/g $DRIVER says replace the contents of x (refered to as $x) by \x90\x90\x90\x90\x90 everywhere in the file $DRIVER (defined in the script to be the .so file). I guess the error message says that sed has a problem finding $x in the file $DRIVER. Do you think I can resolve this on my own (I am abroad), or should I pay a technician when I get home? I would first look for a BIOS update if available, but yes, if you have no previous experience on laptops cleaning (while this a common task I always do by myself on desktops/servers is something I never did before on laptops) I would consider bringing the computer to the service support so they take a look (consider doing a full backup of your hard disk, just in case they break something...). It can be the fan that just needs to be replaced (maybe this is something you can try yourself) but it also can be the heatsink of the processor, that needs to be fully cleaned or even replaced with a new one, and this task can be tricky, depending on your computer brand/model. Hum... you will need to install the corresponding packages (header, symbols or whatever it requires) for your pae kernel in order to be able to compile things. I have 2 GB Ram and i need to switch back to generic kernel version, My nebook also has a hardware limit of 2 GiB but I still use the PAE kernel. PAE kernel is not only convenient for more than 4 GiB of ram but is also enables SMP (multi-processing) and NX bit (a security measure). In brief, just keep it as is :-) how i could do that? AFAIK, the latest kernel remain installed on your system unless you excplicitely removed, at least when it was an upgrade. Anyway, you can reinstall whatever kernel you prefer just like you install other packages. How do I partition a 250 gb drive for a dual boot setup?
Greetings! I have been using a debian based distro for about 6 months. I want to switch to Debian as I consider the project more professional and not bloated. Unfortunately I have to use Windows 7 as well so I need to setup a dual boot. This dual boot setup will run on a laptop with a 250 GB HDD and a Broadcom BCM4312(I tried installing debian 6 some while ago but had no network driver. I imagine that I need to download it using another computer then installing it on the laptop. From where can I get it?) My biggest concern is the fact that I don't know how many partitions to make for Debian and how large. I was thinking about making a windows partition of 100gb and the rest go to Debian. Please, if it's possible provide me with a partition scheme (that much for root, that much for swap, etc) and instructions of how to set the dualboot laptop up and running. Thank you and if you need other details please tell me. PS:I apologize if the content of the mail has already been discussed. I don't know how to search on a mail list. Also, I do know there is GOOOGLE but as a beginner I thought it was more advised to come here and ask questions that can help me solve this specific issue.

For a beginner, probably the easiest way is: 1) Install Windows 2) Use Windows to shrink your Windows partition to 100M. Leave the remaining space unpartitioned. 3) Install Debian, and tell it to use free disk space. It will do its thing for you. 4) Google 'Broadcom BCM4312 + Debian' and look at the first result. Shrink the Windows partition and partition using the Manual option. Putting Debian on a single partition saves you thinking about wasted space or having sufficient space on a partition. Alternatively, have / as 10/20GB and use the remainder for /home. 1-2GB would be suficient for swap. Am I obliged to compile the kernel to compile a module?
Hi, I write a module.c and want to add to the kernel. I downloaded the corresponding source ( linux-3.0.tar.bz2), and put it in in /usr/src/linux-3.0 in the makefile for my modle I tried make -C /usr/src/linux-3.0 M=$(PWD) modules It failed , it looked for something like /lib/modules/3.0/build How to create this directory (build) ? Bonding of two or more DSL connections, possibly multiple ISPs with a data center grade endpoint
Hi, I'm considering options to bond multiple DSL connections. I'm not looking at load balancing, but true bonding. This is a link that describes what I would like to be able to achieve: http://www.fusionbroadband.com.au/virtual_fibre.php - refers to a bonding link as part of this What I want to do is replace one end point with perhaps a 100mbps/100mbps connection at a DC or maybe on PIPE [1]. The other end point will be any location with multiple DSL connections -- the site I want to significantly increase data speeds. There may be multiple sites needing to connect back to the main site (DC). Where the DC end point ends up being is not important right now, I just want to understand what can be done first. There is no budget for specialized equipment here, so I am looking at what can be done with ordinary Debian [or other] servers servers with multiple network cards and if helpful other non-prohibitive cost hardware. Any ideas, advice would be appreciated. I used builds from both 08/15 and 08/17 -- all of them verified with SHA512. These builds all failed to install -- giving me verification errors with several different mirrors, including the main US one. (All of the d-i steps up until the step immediately after choosing the mirror worked perfectly.) Those same images burned to CD-R gave me perfect installations on both machines. This has me wondering if there was something wrong with the hybrid images so that they wouldn't work with the standard method of preparation, namely # dd if=name-of-hybrid-image.iso of=/dev/sdX wouldn't work. I'm worried that an attempt at using a usb device may fail, too. Since Scott said dvd-rom I'm wondering why the small image was written to that type of disc. I can't imagine why, but maybe the image just needs to be written to a standard CD+R or CD-R disc in order to work. I'd also be curious to know exactly what Scott meant by the words wouldn't read my dvd rom so I couldn't finish the install. The word finish implies that there was at least no initial problem reading the disc. Does Scott mean that the install process failed at the Detect CD-ROM point, or something else? I don't really think the method used for getting the installer into the USB flash key has nothing to do for the errors you mentioned. In fact, I think the above errors are neither related to the USB image itself. Installer logs will tell where the errors come from. The 'fw unknown' is bothersome. I'd take 'fw' to be 'firmware'. You're probably right; had I looked at dmesg, I would have seen that cs64xx had no firmware. The 7800N is one of Billion's best modems, it may be faulty, but I don't think so reading through all this horrible thread. The thread and your experience completely mis-represents Billion's product as it seems you are clueless on how to use it properly and as designed -- ala, as others have said, it should not require anything special and almost ANY reasonable browser will work fine for configuration with standard browser settings on Linux or Windows or any other operating system that understands and works properly with standard TCP networks. What I find happens with many Mac users is that they try to setup PPP login on their computer, when the modem is meant to be doing the job for their network. This kind of problem is not something that is normally seen with Linux users as they tend to have more of a clue than a Mac user and usually more of a clue than most Windows users. I suggest the following: First off, connect the modem directly to the setup machine via the Ethernet cable using a LAN port, do not connect to any other devices, ie no switches or other network -- just the modem with the computer. Oh, connect the phone line of the DSL connection too, make sure it isn't filtered coming in to the modem. - Fully reset the 7800N to factory defaults, any way you can, even using the Windows machine. - Use a LIVE CD and eliminate your Linux installation from the equation. The Live CD needs to work, it needs to have drivers for your network card -- if it works fine, then proceed using the setup, otherwise continue with the Windows machine.. - Check that you have an IP address in the range of the modem's standard LAN (probably 192.168.1.254 or 192.168.2.254), netmask is 255.255.255.0. - You should be able to telnet to the modem with username admin and password admin -- logout with user logout on the command line interface, don't do anything else here, you seem to be out of your depth in this area. This will prove connectivity with the modem on it's network and that everything should be fine. Take a breath. If all the above works fine, then you should use the web config of the modem. - Login to the web config using http://192.168.1.254 -- the username and password will both be admin. Once logged in. - Run the quick start wizard. Change only two things, the ISP username and the ISP password. [You may want to scan connection types first, or not). ISPs may give you DNS servers and other setting, but you normally only want to change two things, the PPP username login and the PPP password. - Once you have gone through setting up the ISP login (which the modem takes care of), then do a save configuration to flash, click on the save link, then click on the apply button -- wait for it to say it has been done successfully. You should now have a modem that offers default wireless (fix that ASAP), it should give out IP settings via DHCP (it's own built-in server) and it will be connected to the Internet via the ISP login that you entered. Any machine needing access to the Internet through this modem will simply plug in to the built-in LAN switch or use wireless. The device will get IP settings via DHCP. You do not need to do any kind of PPP login on anything other than the modem itself. Further configuration is for someone whom understands the above things properly first, for starters. Any further configuration is more advanced. I strongly urge you to work out, properly, how to secure the wireless effectively -- change the network name from default, don't use WEP, do use WPA2-PSK with a long and strong password, forget about trying to hide the network or limiting via MAC addresses as both of these options are pointless. If you are unable to manage the above, effectively, I am sure that there are many local people (some maybe even IT consultants), whom should be able to handle this very, very easily -- you'll probably need to have a friend help you or pay a consultant to fix it for you. There was advice I heard a few times about a Word Perfect help desk support call -- it was gold, it might apply to you [1]. Perhaps, only perhaps, that is being a bit harsh. Uit de manual page van tune2fs OPTIONS -c max-mount-counts Adjust the number of mounts after which the filesystem will be checked by e2fsck(8). If max-mount-counts is 0 or -1, the num- ber of times the filesystem is mounted will be disregarded by e2fsck(8) and the kernel. Staggering the mount-counts at which filesystems are forcibly checked will avoid all filesystems being checked at one time when using journaled filesystems. You should strongly consider the consequences of disabling mount-count-dependent checking entirely. Bad disk drives, cables, memory, and kernel bugs could all corrupt a filesystem without marking the filesystem dirty or in error. If you are using journaling on your filesystem, your filesystem will never be marked dirty, so it will not normally be checked. A filesys- tem error detected by the kernel will still force an fsck on the next reboot, but it may already be too late to prevent data loss at that point. Als ik de fsck cycli uitzet kan ik niet testen. Het probleem daarbij is dat je de fsck wel periodiek wil uitvoeren en dat je dit wel in moet plannen en vastleggen. Je moet het wel doen. Dit probleem is daarbij hetzelfde als bij systemen die 24/7 aanstaan. Het systeem staat 24/7 aan, maar heeft wel eens onderhoud nodig e.d. Het is vervelend als het booten dan altijd lang duurt. Ik hoorde dat je bij Ubuntu de check kunt afbreken met ESC, dat heb ik laatst geprobeerd onder Debian, maar het functioneerde niet. Naar zoiets ben ik dus op zoek.
