I have prepared some packages that update some packages that are not or only in an older version in Debian 3.0r1. Please read [1] for more information (and read the FAQ before sending mails to me).
I try my best to avoid problems with both installing these packages on Debian 3.0 and upgrading with these packages installed to Debian 3.1. The kernel-image packages include a fix for a local ptrace root hole [1] with a known exploit. If there are untrusted local users on your system it's highly recommended to upgrade the kernel. Note that the names of the kernel-image-2.4.20-* packages have changed due to the module ABI change the ptrace fix caused. There's a low traffic (approx. 1 Mail/week) announcement mailing list that informs you about new releases of these packages (including security fixes in the packages). It's highly recommended for all users of my packages to subscribe to this list. To subscribe send a mail with "subscribe debian-packages" in the body to [EMAIL PROTECTED] This is the last announcement forwarded to debian-user and debian-user-german. If you want to receive future announcements please subscribe to the announcement mailing list.
