Bug#617937: ITP: libmousex-strictconstructor-perl -- Make your object constructors blow up on unknown attributes

Simply loading this module makes your constructors strict. If your
constructor is called with an attribute argument that your class does not
declare, then it dies. This is a great way to catch small typos.

please mention in the package description that this applies to the
perl programming language (as I suppose it does).

Bug#541004: O: snes9x -- X binaries for snes9x - Super NES Emulator

2011-03-16 Thread Alexander Reichle-Schmehl
Hi Benoît!

Am 15.03.2011 20:47, schrieb Benoît Ryder:

I recently noticed this package was orphaned and planned to help.
Being new to Debian packages and community, I preferred to familiarize
 with all of this first.
This package has been removed today from sid, so I think it's time to
get involved. Is it too late for an adoption?

For an adoption yes (as the package got removed, there's nothing you can
adopt). However, you can try to reintroduce the package again. The old
packages will stay available at
http://snapshot.debian.org/package/snes9x/ and you can base your work
upon them.

Note however, that according to the removal bug, there's no upstream
development any more (so you'll have to do that, too; not sure if it's
possible as the package has been in non-free), and that there seems to
be a free alternative.

Best regards,
  Alexander

Geiser features an enhanced REPL and a set of minor modes improving
Emacs' basic scheme major mode. The main functionalities provided
 are:

- Evaluation of forms in the namespace of the current module.
- Macro expansion.
- File/module loading.
- Namespace-aware identifier completion (including local bindings,
names visible in the current module, and module names).
- Autodoc: the echo area shows information about the signature of
  the procedure/macro around point automatically.
- Jump to definition of identifier at point.
- Access to documentation (including docstrings when the
  implementation provides it).
- Listings of identifiers exported by a given module.
- Listings of callers/callees of procedures.
- Rudimentary support for debugging (list of
evaluation/compilation error in an Emacs' compilation-mode
  buffer).

Description : Modifies the protonation state of protein structures

PropKa is a tool to modify the protonation state of a protein
structure in the Protein Data Bank (PDB) format to match a given pKa
  value.
  .
It can also be used to refine NMR structures, which often yield
inaccurate pKa values for some residues.
  .
The PROPKA method is described in Hui Li, Andrew D. Robertson, and
Jan H. Jensen Very Fast Empirical Prediction and Interpretation of
  Protein pKa Values Proteins, 2005, 61, 704-721

Note: The program is currently only distributed by the author on
request, since noone ever packaged it in a distributable form. I'm
working on that with upstream, so a tarball is hopefully available soon.

  Package name: tabix
  Version : 0.2.3
Upstream Author : Heng Li l...@live.co.uk
  URL : http://samtools.sourceforge.net/tabix.shtml
  License : MIT/X
Programming Lang: C, plus some Java, python and Perl bindings
Description : generic indexer for TAB-delimited genome position files

Tabix indexes files where some columns indicate sequence coordinates: name
(usually a chromosme), start and stop. The input data file must be position
sorted and compressed by bgzip (provided in this package), which has a gzip
like interface. After indexing, tabix is able to quickly retrieve data lines by
chromosomal coordinates. Fast data retrieval also works over network if an URI
is given as a file name.

A draft package is available here:

  Vcs-Git: git://git.debian.org/debian-med/tabix.git
  Vcs-Browser: http://git.debian.org/?p=debian-med/tabix.git;a=summary

I update the draft from time to time when I use it at work, and will
eventually upload it ‘when it is ready’.

Do not hesitate to express your interest in it, and I will fast-track it.

Have a nice day,

Description : Converts Protein Data Bank (PDB) files to PQR

  From the PDB2PQR hompage:
PDB2PQR is a Python software package that automates many of the
common tasks of preparing structures for continuum electrostatics
calculations. This includes adding a limited number of missing
heavy atoms to biomolecular structures, optimizing the protein
for favorable hydrogen bonding, determining side-chain pKas, and
assigning charge and radius parameters from a variety of force

PDB2PQR is a tool often used in conjunction with APBS, which is in

Description : apache2 module for NTLM authentication against Winbind

The mod_auth_ntlm_winbind module provides authentication and
authorisation over the web against a Microsoft Windows NT/2000/XP or
Samba Domain Controller using Samba's winbind daemon running on the
same machine Apache is running on.

--

Upstream SVN has some Debian packaging work by Jelmer Vernooij, which I've
updated. I talked to Jelmer on IRC about the module, and he said this is
lacking an upstream maintainer within Samba currently; however the module seems
to work well and be quite widely used.

Bug#579509: ctpl version 0.3 available at m.d.n

2011-03-16 Thread Evgeni Golov
On 10/17/2010 10:35 PM, Jonathan Michalon wrote:

I've just uploaded a new package of ctpl on debian-mentors.
It involves version 0.3, which introduces an ABI / API break. I've managed
 this
the best way I can for now, but I'm not sure whether this is correct,
 especially
 for the symbols file.

Hi Jonathan,

first of all a HUGE sorry for not mailing you about ctpl before. Yes, I
still want to upload it, and I think we can manage it in a breeze. :)

Your symbols update looks good (as far as I can tell).
Lintian told me (with --pedantic), that the packages did not have an
upstream changelog and looking at the upstream tarball it seems the
changelog is in NEWS for upstream, thus I added the following to
debian/rules:
override_dh_installchangelogs:
dh_installchangelogs NEWS

packaging-wise this is the only change I'd do before uploading, so you
did a really good job here!

I'd like to discuss some orga stuff before uploading though.
ctpl is currently only needed for geany-plugins (in which you are
interested IIRC). Thus I'd like to suggest you join pkg-geany on Alioth
[1], we put your package into Git there and maintain with three pairs of
eyes for two distributions from there. Oh, and I promise to upload fast
from now on :)

Description : framework for crafting raw frames

Net::Frame is a Perl framework for crafting raw frames (Layers 2 through 7).
Out of the box, it can be used to produce ARP, Ethernet, IPv4, PPP, TCP and
UDP frames. It has an extensible design for new frame implementations.

This module only creates frames; Net::Write (see libnet-write-perl) can be
used to write frames directly to wire.

NOTE: this package replaces a now-defunct RFP for libnet-packet-perl
(Net::Frame is an upstream fork of Net::Packet, and Net::Packet is
deprecated upstream)

Method::Signatures::Simple is a Perl module that enables developers to make
basic method declarations, optionally with a signature as well. It provides
a
small amount of syntactic sugar and is intended to be a stepping stone to
the
more feature-complete Method::Signatures (see libmethod-signatures-perl) and
MooseX::Method::Signatures (see libmoosex-method-signatures-perl) modules.

Description : automated Bot creation with safeties

This Perl module, Net::Jabber::Bot, provides tools for writing a Jabber
 Bot.
 .
The idea behind the module is that someone creating a bot should not
really have to know a whole lot about how the Jabber protocol works in
order to use it. It also allows us to abstract away all the things
that can get a bot maker into trouble. Essentially the object helps
protect the coders from their own mistakes.

Description : module to parse directory listings

File::Listing exports a single function called parse_dir(), which can be
used

to parse directory listings.

The first parameter to parse_dir() is the directory listing to parse. It can
be a scalar, a reference to an array of directory lines or a glob
representing a filehandle to read the directory listing from.

The second parameter is the time zone to use when parsing time stamps in the
listing. If this value is undefined, then the local time zone is assumed.

The third parameter is the type of listing to assume. Currently supported
formats are 'unix', 'apache' and 'dosftp'. The default value 'unix'.
Ideally,

the listing type should be determined automatically.

Description : module providing low-level HTTP connection client

The Net::HTTP class is a low-level HTTP client. An instance of the
Net::HTTP class represents a connection to an HTTP server. The
HTTP protocol is described in RFC 2616. The Net::HTTP class
supports HTTP/1.0 and HTTP/1.1. Net::HTTP is a sub-class of
IO::Socket::INET.

You can mix its methods with reading and writing from the socket directly.
This is not necessarily a good idea, unless you know what you are doing.

Bug#615246: ITA: : haproxy -- fast and reliable load balancing reverse proxy

2011-03-16 Thread Dererk
Hi Christo Buschek,

It would be nice if you could use the collab-maint[0] repositories
Debian provides so its easier for any possible future co-maintainer to
easily join you within the project itself, instead 3rd party services.

Great to see your ITA.

Cheers,

Dererk

wxSQLite3 is a C++ wrapper around the public domain SQLite 3.x database
and is specifically designed for use in programs based on the wxWidgets
 2.8 library.
 .
wxSQLite3 does not try to hide the underlying database, in contrary
almost all special features of the current SQLite3 version 3.7.4 are
supported, like for example the creation of user defined scalar or
 aggregate functions.

* Package name: xhtmlrenderer
  Version : R8
Upstream Author : Joshua Marinacci jos...@marinacci.org
* URL : https://xhtmlrenderer.dev.java.net/
* License : LGPL-2.1
  Programming Lang: Java
Description : An XML/XHTML/CSS 2.1 Renderer written in Java

xhtmlrender is an XML/CSS renderer, which means it takes
XML files as input, applies formatting and styling using
CSS, and generates a rendered representation of that XML as
output. The output may go to the screen (in a GUI), to an
image, or to a PDF file.
 .
The main target for content is XHTML 1.0 (strict), an XML
document format that standardizes HTML. However,
xhtmlrenderer accepts any well-formed XML for rendering as
long as CSS is provided that tells us how to lay it out.
 .
In the case of XHTML, default stylesheets are provided out
of the box and packaged within the library.

I need this library to package Grails.

Well, the package name ends with '-perl'. Isn't this enough ?

Bug#592137: RFH: bastille - Security hardening tool

2011-03-16 Thread George Zarkadas
Hi,

I would gladly help with this.

I use Bastille as my main firewall, as well as its tmp-securing script.
I have also gone through all steps of Securing Debian Manual as part
of my systems' security policy, so no problem with that also.

I am currently preparing a package for inclusion in debian (see
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=518696 and the parallel
package in http://mentors.debian.net), so I have both already gained
some experience with it and enough free time (no lots of packages to
distract me) to devote to the bastille-reshaping project.

Over the suggested tools, I would prefer git and quilt. They allow to
work independently and in a modular way. For example, I could start
immediately to separate patches in my branch while I would wait for you
to create the Alioth project and init the main git repo there. But I
can work with other tools too.

Please provide me with a tasklist of things that I can start working.

regards
George Zarkadas

Bug#541004: O: snes9x -- X binaries for snes9x - Super NES Emulator

2011-03-16 Thread Benoît Ryder
For an adoption yes (as the package got removed, there's nothing you can
adopt). However, you can try to reintroduce the package again. The old
 packages will stay available at
http://snapshot.debian.org/package/snes9x/ and you can base your work
 upon them.
Thanks for the link, it will really help.
So, once I'm done updating the package I'll have to file an ITP and find a
sponsor. Is there anything specific to reintroduced packages I should be
aware of? (For instance, trying to ensure maximum compatibility with the
previous package.)

Note however, that according to the removal bug, there's no upstream
 development any more
Fortunately, the project has been taken over and is actively maintained:
http://github.com/snes9xgit/snes9x

Thanks for your answers.

This gives an indication, but I do not think it is explicit enough.
I would expect that the package description alone tells me what the

Upstream Author : ILK Research Group, Tilburg University, http://ilk.uvt.nl
* URL : http://ilk.uvt.nl/timbl
* License : GPL-3
  Programming Lang: C++
Description : Tilburg Memory Based Learner

Memory-Based Learning (MBL) is a machine-learning method applicable to a wide
range of tasks in Natural Language Processing (NLP).
 .
The Tilburg Memory Based Learner, TiMBL, is a tool for NLP research, and for
many other domains where classification tasks are learned from examples. It
is an efficient implementation of k-nearest neighbor classifier.
 .
 TiMBL's features are: * Fast, decision-tree-based implementation of k-nearest
neighbor classification; * Implementations of IB1 and IB2, IGTree, TRIBL, and
TRIBL2 algorithms; * Similarity metrics: Overlap, MVDM, Jeffrey Divergence,
Dot product, Cosine; * Feature weighting metrics: information gain, gain ratio,
chi squared, shared variance; * Distance weighting metrics: inverse, inverse
linear, exponential decay; * Extensive verbosity options to inspect nearest
neighbor sets; * Server functionality and extensive API; * Fast leave-one-out
testing and internal cross-validation; and Handles user-defined example
 weighting.
 .
TiMBL is a product of the ILK (Induction of Linguistic Knowledge) research
group of the Tilburg University and the CNTS research group of the University
 of Antwerp.
 .
If you do scientific research in NLP, timbl will likely be of use to you.

Bug#576936: Noone?

2011-03-16 Thread Robert Kehl
There is noone wanting to provide Debian packages and up them to (at
least) non-free? If so, please close the bug with Debian does not want it.

If there's time lacking, please note it and cry for help, maybe people
help. ;)

If policy is what is standing against all, then G*d may help with
r3l1jon. ;)

With highest regards,

Robert Kehl
