Bug#583476: openscad packaging status update
the package is now in a state that i'd consider ready for upload to debian. the latest changes were: * upstream released a 2011.12 version, and nowadays includes a test suite. i've split the test suite programs out into an own package (openscad-testing) and its data too (openscad-testing-data). the test suite gets run in the dh_test phase unless configured otherwise using DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=nocheck, and the results get shipped in openscad-testing-data too for comparison. i wrote a little helper script openscad-testrun, shipped in openscad-testing, that assembles the test suite and runs it. (it was originally just intended to be run from the build dir, which is impractical for debian.) * a package containing debug symbols is now generated (openscad-dbg). * the whole license mess with QPL is about to resolve as the new CGAL library is released under GPL-3+ (among others). that doesn't affect the package's categorization to contrib yet (until the new cgal gets into debian main), but the re-licensing allows a particular file that previously caused much headache[1], OGL_helper.h, to be shipped without trouble. apart from that single file that was made ok for inclusion by the relicensing, the other issues have been resolved, and the license seems to be valid as GPL-2+ with CGAL exception. * patches were dropped in collaboration with upstream (build system got more flexible) the package is now lintian clean. a current copy is uploaded to mentors[2] and can be fetched by dget from [3]. I'm a bit overloaded at work right now, so that was not in my immediate plans. If someone wants to step in and make some packages, I'll be willing to give a helping hand. Maybe in some weeks I might find a way to get some time for that, as it seems there is interest on it, but I wasn't planning on properly maintaining it in Debian. I might be willing to help/comaintain/sponsor it if someone wants. Bug#660220: O: gramofile
Package: wnpp Severity: normal Hi, gramofile has been RC buggy for a while, and has seen no maintainer activity in a while. So while fixing #636885 I decided to orphan it. Description: Transfer sound from gramophone records to CD GramoFile enables you to record audio from (for example) gramophone records, process the signal and listen to the results. Because sound files in .WAV-format are used, it is possible to exchange the files with many other programs. Wodim(1) can burn CD-Recordables of these, so you can make CDs with the music of your favorite records. The user interface of GramoFile has a windows-like look-and-feel, making it fairly easy to use. . One of the most important parts of GramoFile is the ability to process digital audio signals. Through the application of several filters it is possible to accomplish a significant reduction of disturbances like ticks and scratches. These filters have been programmed in such a fashion that they can be applied in any order (and multiple times) in a single run, thus avoiding the use of temporary files. It is possible to adjust the properties of each filter independently, so in every situation an optimal result can be achieved. . Another interesting feature is the track splitting. Just make one .wav file of an entire side of an record and GramoFile will detect where the individual tracks are located. This happens fully automatically, without need to set any options. More experienced users may fine-tune the algorithm, or change the detected track starts and ends, but generally that will not be necessary. Track-times are saved in an editable (plaintext) .tracks file, that will be used during the signal processing to produce one processed .wav file for each individual track. . To record and play .wav files, modified versions of brec(1) and bplay(1) by David Monro are included. These programs provide buffered recording and playback, so all will go well even on a highly loaded system. Both programs have been modified to support the standard GramoFile user interface. Brec also got a `graphical' peak level meter, and bplay a running time display. Mraw, KiBi. signature.asc Description: Digital signature

It is a package capable of reporting the bandwidth of each hop along a traceroute on the Internet, and I have not been able to find a sensible replacement. Once in a while I need it, and every time I rediscover that it was removed from Debian (BTW #195589), see also URL: http://packages.qa.debian.org/p/pchar.html . I am tired of this and want it back, so I intend to re-upload the package. Bug#660272: ITP: sift -- predict if an amino acid substitution in a protein has phenotypic effect

Bug#646208: BTS Pending tags
Hello I've been sorting bugs. Count is now bellow 100, but that still is a long list of things to watch. So I plan to tag pending the ones fixed in the next git branch of Alioth, without fixed version since 2.4.1 will be officially out in a couple of days, and I'm not sure what next version will be. This will reduce a lot what I have to look at. And you can check yourself if you forgot some Closes: in the Changelog. Do you think that's ok / a good idea? Any suggestions? signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.
Bug#660304: RFP: r-cran-tm -- GNU R package for text mining applications
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist * Package name: r-cran-tm Version : 0.5-7.1 Upstream Author : Ingo Feinerer feine...@logic.at * URL : http://tm.r-forge.r-project.org/ * License : GPL-3+ Programming Lang: R Description : GNU R package for text mining The tm package offers functionality for managing text documents, abstracts the process of document manipulation and eases the usage of heterogeneous text formats in R. The package has integrated database backend support to minimize memory demands. An advanced meta data management is implemented for collections of text documents to alleviate the usage of large and with meta data enriched document sets. . With the package ships native support for handling the Reuters-21578 data set, Gmane RSS feeds, e-mails, and several classic file formats (e.g. plain text, CSV text, or PDFs). . The data structures and algorithms can be extended to fit custom demands, since the package is designed in a modular way to enable easy integration of new file formats, readers, transformations and filter operations. . tm provides easy access to preprocessing and manipulation mechanisms such as whitespace removal, stemming, or conversion between file formats. Further a generic filter architecture is available in order to filter documents for certain criteria, or perform full text search. The package supports the export from document collections to term-document matrices, and string kernels can be easily constructed from text documents. --- I am in the process of reviewing O'Reilly's book Machine Learning for Email. With the recent uploads of gglib2 and plyr, this is the last package that is needed for all packages used by the book to be available officially on Debian (and, I hope, in short time, on popular derivatives like Ubuntu and Linux Mint).
