Bug#891939: ITP: python-gitlab -- GitLab API client library for Python

2018-03-12 Thread Andreas Tille
Hi again,

I pushed two commits to your repository. One to prevent file name conflicts
the other one containing d/copyright.

I'm testing the package now while waiting for your answers to my comments
below.

Kind regards

  Andreas.

Bug#892740: ITP: dkimpy-milter -- Python milter implementation of DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM)

2018-03-12 Thread Scott Kitterman
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Scott Kitterman

* Package name: dkimpy-milter
  Version : 0.9.5.1
  Upstream Author : Scott Kitterman
* URL : https://launchpad.net/dkimpy-milter
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : Python milter implementation of DomainKeys Identified Mail
(DKIM)

 The dkimpy-milter is a Sendmail/Postfix Milter application that signs
 and verifies DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail). It supports both traditional
 RSA (RFC 6376) signatures and the new ed25519 based signatures being
 developed by the IETF DCRUP (DKIM Crypto UPgrade) Working Group.
 .
 DKIM provides a way for senders to confirm their identity when sending email
 by adding a cryptographic signature to the headers of the message.
 .
 It uses the OpenDKIM configuration option naming and definitions, for the
 options it implements, to make it easy for OpenDKIM users to experiment with
 this alternative.

The primary alternative, which I also maintain, is opendkim. Upstream isn't
dead, but it appears to be on life support. I wrote this as an alternative so
I would have something modern and supported. Currently it is the only DKIM
option for Postfix/Sendmail that supports ed25519 (there's also an unreleased
Exim implementation that this has been tested with to verify
interoperability).

Yes, it's python2.7, but the milter bindings it uses, python-milter, are not
yet avaialble for python3. When they are, it'll be ported.

I plan to maintain this within the Python Applications Packaging Team.

I'd like to take the opportunity to thank Matthias for his time as sole
and primary Doxygen maintainer for such a long time. It certainly isn't
a thankful package as every new upstream release tends to make some
other package FTBFS. Dealing with the bug reports can be a tiresome task
indeed and Matthias has certainly endured that for a long time. The
balance of how close to stay with upstream defaults is difficult to
strike. Communicating issues with upstream likely needs more time as
well.

I'd also like to thank Paolo Greppi, who stepped up and triaged a number
of bugs in 2013. Paolo, are you still interested in Doxygen? Now would
be a good time to say so.

In case someone wants to adopt Doxygen, I'm happy to share my knowledge
of the package.

Helmut

Bug#879198: Guide to installing

2018-03-12 Thread Jeronimo Pellegrini
The following document:

https://gist.github.com/gelim/a840a99d15cb765cb7b65105b72f00c4

is a guide to installing plain ShareLaTeX (without Docker).
Basically, the author shows how to get the source for the
Docker image and make the installation from it on a Ubuntu
system. This would perhaps help a Debian packager.

Note that this installation method is not supported by
the upstream authors of ShareLaTeX (they only support
installation of the Docker image provided by them).

Bug#892752: RFP: ipcalc-nmav -- parameter calculator for IPv4 and IPv6 addresses

2018-03-12 Thread Benjamin Barenblat
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: ipcalc-nmav
  Version : 0.2.2
  Upstream Author : Nikos Mavrogiannopoulos
* URL : https://github.com/nmav/ipcalc
* License : GPL-2
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : parameter calculator for IPv4 and IPv6 addresses

>From the From the Github page:

This is a modern tool to assist in network address calculations
for IPv4 and IPv6. It acts both as a tool to output human
readable information about a network or address as well as a
tool suitable to be used by scripts or other programs.

It supports printing a summary about the provided network
address, multiple command line options per information to be
printed, transparent IPv6 support, and in addition it will use
libGeoIP if available to provide geographic information.

This package provides a strict superset of the functionality in Debian's
current ipcalc package. Notably, it provides IPv6 support (see
https://bugs.debian.org/809847), which is now becoming more important
for my day-to-day activities.

Eventually, we probably should deprecate the current ipcalc package in
favor of this one. (Fedora has already made this switch.) This ipcalc is
not a direct descendant of the current ipcalc, though, so this ipcalc
should enter the archive via NEW.

Bug#892758: ITP: python-bsdf -- Python implementation of the Binary Structured Data Format

2018-03-12 Thread Ghislain Vaillant

  Version : 2.1.1
  Upstream Author : Almar Klein
* URL : http://bsdf.io/
* License : BSD
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : Python implementation of the Binary Structured Data Format

Long-Description:
 The Binary Structured Data Format (BSDF) is an open specification for
 serializing (scientific) data, for the purpose of storage and (inter
 process) communication.
 .
 It's designed to be a simple format, making it easy to implement in
 many programming languages. However, the format allows implementations
 to support powerful mechanics such as lazy loading of binary data, and
 streamed reading/writing.
 .
 BSDF is a binary format; by giving up on human readability, BSDF can be
 simple, compact and fast. See the full specification, or how it
 compares to other formats.

This library is a new dependency for src:python-imageio. It will be
maintained by the Debian Science Team.
