Bug#912950: ITP: puppet-module-antonlindstrom-powerdns -- Puppet module for PowerDNS

2018-11-05 Thread Thomas Goirand
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Thomas Goirand

* Package name: puppet-module-antonlindstrom-powerdns
  Version : 0.0.5
  Upstream Author : Anton Lindström
* URL : https://github.com/antonlindstrom/puppet-powerdns
* License : GPL-2
  Programming Lang: Puppet
  Description : Puppet module for PowerDNS

 Puppet lets you centrally manage every important aspect of your system using a
 cross-platform specification language that manages all the separate elements
 normally aggregated in different files, like users, cron jobs, and hosts,
 along with obviously discrete elements like packages, services, and files.
 .
 antonlindstrom-powerdns installs and manages PowerDNS. The configuration is
 split into several files and put in /etc/powerdns/pdns.d. This makes it easy
 to read which bits of the configuration are currently modified.

Note: This is a missing dependency for puppet-module-designate which I intend
to fix with this package.

I request an adopter for the memcachedb package. It hasn't been
maintained upstream for a long time now, so could use a lot of work.

Unless someone wants to continue maintaining this the package should
probably be removed.

The package description is:
 Memcachedb is a distributed key-value storage system designed for
 persistent data. It is NOT a cache solution, but a persistent storage
 engine for fast and reliable key-value based object storage and
 retrieval.
 .
 It conforms to the memcache protocol, so any memcached client can
 have connectivity with it. Memcachedb uses Berkeley DB as a storing
 backend, so lots of features including transactions and replication
 are available.

unstable we hereby close the associated bug reports. We are sorry

It would be beneficial to the freerdp package in Debian to have more
people than me (i.e., just one person) involved in the package
maintenance.

The FreeRDP package currently is a low-prio package to me because:

  o I only rarely use it (more interested in Linux-based remote
desktops)
  o I have other packages with higher prio at the moment

Nonetheless, I am still interested in co-maintaining FreeRDP, because I
am quite involved in remote desktop / applications solutions for Linux
(also as upstream dev -> X2Go, Arctica Project).

light+love,
Mike

The package description is:
 FreeRDP is a libre client/server implementation of the Remote
 Desktop Protocol (RDP).
 .
 Currently, the FreeRDP client supports the following Windows Versions:
 .
  * Windows NT Server
  * Windows 2000 Terminal Server
  * Windows XP
  * Windows 2003 Server
  * Windows Vista
  * Windows 2008/2008r2/2011SBS Server
  * Windows 7
  * Windows 2012 Server
  * Windows 8
 .
 This package contains the X11 based client.

It's OK to choose mako for binary name as src:mako is
using python-mako, python3-mako and python-mako-doc.
(and /usr/bin/mako-render script so you're fine here as well).

I'd use mako-daemon or mako-wayland for source name

Severity: normal

I intend to orphan the outguess package.

The package description is:
 OutGuess is a universal tool for steganography that allows the insertion
 of hidden information into the redundant bits of data sources. The nature
 of the data source is irrelevant to the core of OutGuess.
 .
 The program relies on data specific handlers that will extract redundant
 bits and write them back after modification. The supported formats are
 JPEG, PPM and PNM.
 .
 This package is useful in forensics investigations and security actions.

---

The outguess is not building in all architectures. Please, see #909442,
caused by #882538.

Eriberto

Bug#913027: RFP: hblock -- Improve your security and privacy by blocking ads, tracking and malware domains

2018-11-05 Thread Dmitry Bogatov
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: hblock
  Version : 1.6.9
  Upstream Author : Héctor Molinero Fernández
* URL : https://github.com/hectorm/hblock
* License : MIT
  Programming Lang: Shell
  Description : Improve your security and privacy by blocking ads, tracking
and malware domains

This POSIX-compliant shell script, designed for Unix-like systems, gets
a list of domains that serve ads, tracking scripts and malware from
multiple sources and creates a hosts file (alternative formats are also
supported) that prevents your system from connecting to them.
