I request an adopter for the flashrom package.

The package description is:
flashrom is a tool for identifying, reading, writing, verifying and erasing
flash chips. It's often used to flash BIOS/EFI/coreboot/firmware/optionROM
images in-system using a supported mainboard, but it also supports flashing of
network cards (NICs), SATA controller cards, and other external devices which
 can program flash chips.
 .
 It supports a wide range of DIP32, PLCC32, DIP8, SO8/SOIC8, TSOP32/40/48,
and BGA chips, which use various protocols such as LPC, FWH, parallel
 flash, or SPI.
 .
The tool can be used to flash BIOS/firmware images for example -- be it
proprietary BIOS images or coreboot (previously known as LinuxBIOS) images.
 .
It can also be used to read the current existing BIOS/firmware from a
 flash chip.
 .
 Currently supported programmers include:
 .
   * internal (for in-system flashing in the mainboard)

Bug#821397: intent to sponsor an upload to NEW

2019-01-29 Thread Sean Whitton
Dear Birger, Nicolas,

On Fri 11 Jan 2019 at 08:19AM +01, Birger Schacht wrote:

> i hear back.

Thank you to both of you for your recent work on the sway package. I
want to unblock inclusion of swaywm in Debian by sponsoring the upload.

There are a few social issues to resolve.

Firstly, I want to ensure that Nicolas is adequately credited for having
done the majority of the packaging work (so far as I can tell); at the
time of writing, where master is at 9303b617, I don't think this is
true.

Secondly, I want to ensure that the Maintainer and Uploaders fields
adequately reflect Debian's social conventions about who gets final say
over the contents of the package. Right now only Birger is listed. As
has already been pointed out this could be interpreted as a kind of
package hijack, which we don't want.

I have a few technical questions about the packaging, but they are not
sufficiently severe to block uploading to experimental, so I'm not
addressing them in this e-mail.

This is what I propose we do:

(1) use the [ square brackets ] convention to make it clear that the
initial packaging work was done mainly by Nicolas;

(2) set the Maintainer field to Nicolas; and

(3) set the Uploaders field to Birger,

i.e. apply this diff:

diff --git a/debian/changelog b/debian/changelog

According to Debian's social conventions, this would mean that both
Birger and Nicolas are allowed to make uploads of the package, but
Nicolas has final say over the contents of the package, and would be
allowed to remove Birger from the Uploaders field.

The last e-mail we have from Nicolas, saying that they are waiting for
sponsorship, indicates that they still want to maintain this package in
Debian. On the other hand, Birger has worked on the package recently,
and I want to unblock him. So I think this is a suitable compromise.

Birger, if this sounds good to you, please apply my diff, and then run
`dch -r` again to refresh the timestamp in d/changelog.

I will then upload the package to DELAYED/X where X=15-N, and N is the
number of days that have passed since the date of this e-mail.

Nicolas, if you are not okay with having Birger in the Uploaders field,
you can NACK my sponsorship and do an upload yourself, now that you are
in the uploading keyring.

Bug#532093: AleVT in dvb-apps

Hello VDR Team,

I've been eyeing the orphaned alevt package for a while and decided to
adopt it. However, some quick investigation showed that it has been
abandoned upstream, forked and is now part of dvb-apps. I've tested
alevt in dvb-apps and it works.

>From what I can tell, there is no point in keeping the alevt package.
I would suggest removing it. What do you think?

I'm giving up on "clipit" in favour of "parcellite" or "xfce4-clipman".

Unfortunately "clipit" is not getting enough attention upstream...

The current state of "clipit" is buggy and I think it might be better to keep
it away from "Buster".

Maintaining this package requires time and skills. Please only adopt this

Bug#920810: ITP: imediff -- interactive full screen 2/3-way merge tool

2019-01-29 Thread Osamu Aoki
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Osamu Aoki

* Package name: imediff
  Version : 2.0
  Upstream Author : Osamu Aoki
* URL : https://github.com/osamuaoki/imediff
* License : GPL 2+
  Programming Lang: Python3, shell
Description : interactive full screen 2/3-way merge tool
The imediff command helps you to merge 2 slightly different files with an
optional base file interactively using the in-place alternating display of
the changed content on a single-pane full screen terminal user interface.
.
The advantage of this user interface is the minimal movement of the line of
sight for the user. Other great tools such as vimdiff, xxdiff, meld and
kdiff3 require you to look at different points of display to find the exact
position of changes. This makes imediff the most stress-free tool.
.
Other great tools for merge such as "diff3 -m ..." and "git merge ..."
operate only on the difference by line. So even for the non-overlapping
changes, they yield the merge conflict if changes happen on the same line.
.
The automatic merge logic of the imediff command operates not only on the
difference by line but on the difference by character. This is another
great feature of the imediff command. So for the non-overlapping changes, it
always yields the clean merge.
.
This comes with git-ime script which helps you to split squished git commit
using imediff and with a support script to use imediff as the backend of
git-mergetool.

Old upstream: 2003-2004 Jarno Elonen in python2
New upstream: 2015-2018 Osamu Aoki in python3

The old upstream agreed to handover maintenance to me.
This prompted osamu to port code to python3 etc. and
changed its name from imediff2 to imediff since it now supports
diff3.

This ITP is for uploading the new version 2.0 series (imediff).

  Programming Lang: Java
Description : High performance caching library

Caffeine provides an in-memory cache using a Google Guava inspired API.
The improvements draw on the experience designing Guava's cache and
ConcurrentLinkedHashMap.

Caffeine provides flexible construction to create a cache with a combination
of the following features:
 * Automatic loading of entries into the cache, optionally asynchronously
 * Size-based eviction when a maximum is exceeded based on frequency and recency
 * Time-based expiration of entries, measured since last access or last write
 * Asynchronously refresh when the first stale request for an entry occurs
 * Keys automatically wrapped in weak references
 * Values automatically wrapped in weak or soft references
 * Notification of evicted (or otherwise removed) entries
 * Writes propagated to an external resource
 * Accumulation of cache access statistics

This library is a new dependency of Apache JMeter (packaged as jakarta-jmeter).
It'll be maintained by the Java Team.
