Bug#183358: RFP: gtk2edit -- Unicode text editor made with GTK+ 2

2003-03-04 Thread Victor Porton
Package: wnpp
Version: N/A; reported 2003-03-04
Severity: wishlist

Package name: gtk2edit
Version : 0.1
Upstream Author : Victor Porton [EMAIL PROTECTED]
URL : http://gtk2edit.sf.net/
License : GPL
Description : Unicode text editor made with GTK+ 2

I created this package today. It is already fully debianized. Please
include it into Debian. It is an important program for Gnome2.

This is a simple text editor written in C with GTK+ 2.
It can be used as a Unicode (for now UTF-8 only) editor.

The main intent is to create a simple to use Unicode
HTML/XML editor. Yet no syntax highlighting.

Beta, but seems not crashing and quite usable.

Bug#183373: RFA: metakit -- MetaKit embeddable database

2003-03-04 Thread Gerfried Fuchs
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the metakit package. The upstream maintainer
doesn't seem to have a clue about soname versioning, and me neither (and
I don't want to do one without upstream concensus). For I know next to
nothing about soname versioning (beside the things in the library
package howto and the libtool infopages, which didn't enlighten me in
that respect) I think someone more into libraries would be needed to
maintain this package like it deserves. Someone with python/tcl
knowledge would be a plus for there could be bindings compiled for
those, but I don't think that its a must for maintaining the package (I
don't know much about those languages neither).

The package description is:
MetaKit is an embeddable database library. It lets you build applications
which store their data efficiently, in a portable way, and which will not
need a runtime installation. In terms of the data model, MetaKit takes
the middle ground between RDBMS, OODBMS, and flat-file databases - yet it
is quite different from each of them.

 Thanks to everyone interested,
Alfie

Bug#183383: ITP: plasticfs -- plastic (twistable, bendable, malleable) file system access

Severity: wishlist

* Package name: plasticfs
  Version : 1.7
Upstream Author : Peter Miller [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://plasticfs.sourceforget.net/
* License : GPL
Description : plastic (twistable, bendable, malleable) file system access

The Plastic File System is an LD_PRELOAD module for manipulating how a
program sees the filesystem. This allows virtual filesystems to exist
in userspace, without kernel hacks or modules.
 .
 Plastic filesystems include:
  - ``viewpath'' which unions a set of directory trees in a view path
so that they appear to be a single directory tree.
  - ``smartlink'' expands environment variables in symbolic links, using
the standard $name syntax, like DG/UX did with its ``e-links''.
  - ``log'' transparently logs all file accesses, similar to strace.
  - and many others!

Description : Realtime HTTP worm intrusion attempt notification tool

Early Bird is a realtime HTTP worm intrusion attempt reporting utility.
Originally written to combat only Code Red, Early Bird originally
functioned simply as a decoy by living under the name of 'default.ida'.
Over time, Early Bird was altered to handle other worm attack
signatures. When the HTTP worm attempts to exploit a known buffer
overflow (usually in IIS), Early Bird captures the attacking IP, the
request string sent, and composes an email to the offending network
contact to alert them to their problem.

(taken from the earlybird FAQ)

IANADD - but if I ever get some more free time, this would be candidate
for a first package, I think.
