Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the libpqxx3 package.

The package description is:
C++ library to enable user programs to communicate with
the PostgreSQL database back-end. The database back-end can
be local or it may be on another machine, accessed via
TCP/IP. This package obsoletes the libpqpp package.

I don't use this package anymore, neither Martin Pitt (an uploader).

Current status is mostly OK, 1 wishlist bug, actions needed for Wheezy:

1) remove already obsoleted in Squeeze libpqxx (v2) package
2) upgrade to the latest upstream release, 3.1.

An upstream is very responsive.

Bug#548070: ITP: libpdcurses0 -- X/Open curses library with an X11 and SDL interface

2011-11-30 Thread Agustin Martin
2011/7/4 Peter Pentchev r...@ringlet.net:

Sorry for replying a bit late; I was on a short vacation last week and
I only got back to my e-mail this morning.

Well, the work I've done on PDCurses may be seen in the Debian Games Team's
 Git repository -
 http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-games/libxcurses.git;a=summary
 or, of course, http://anonscm.debian.org/git/pkg-games/libxcurses.git/
The truth is, just a couple of days ago I remembered that my ITPs of
 this library and ASCIIpOrtal have been, well, languishing for a while;
I'll do something about them in the next couple of days :)

Hi, Peter,

I have recently seen a message (stored at
http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/pkg-sdl-maintainers/2011-November/000960.html)
about revitalization of the Debian SDL team

https://alioth.debian.org/projects/pkg-sdl/

and thought about letting people there know about this ITP and about
this package. I plan to send them a message in some days.

Any news?

Hi,

libcommandline-ruby should _not_ be marked as orphaned. Esteban is
retiring from the project, but this package has been adopted (and
recently renamed to ruby-commandline - libcommandline-ruby is just a
transitional package now) by Paul van Tilburg and Cédric Boutillier.

Bug#647090: Status Check

And Etienne and Vasudev have offered to help maintain the package:

On 28 November 2011 18:28, Etienne Millon etienne.mil...@gmail.com wrote:

It seems that you found at least two co-maintainers if you want :)

This sounds like there a lot of people involved, but I suppose if we
all pitch in we should be able to keep on top of the package? ;)

Having a quick look at the suckless-tool's current contents, a few of
the utilities are out of date:
  st-0.0 (now 0.1.1)
  lsw-0.1 (now 0.2)
  dmenu-4.2.1 (now 4.4.1)

dmenu-4.5 is scheduled for a Christmas release.

So there are things to do...

Thanks,
cls

* Connor Lane Smith c...@lubutu.com [30 21:56]:
This sounds like there a lot of people involved, but I suppose if we
all pitch in we should be able to keep on top of the package? ;)

Sure :) As stated in #636012, the Vcs-Git field does not point to
packaging.

From what I understood, the packaging is at :

  git://git.webconverger.org/git/public/suckless-tools

and not :

  git://webconverger.org/git/public/suckless-tools

I suggest we clone the former to alioth under collab-maint and make
Vcs-Git point there, so that we can all contribute. What do you think?

Having a quick look at the suckless-tool's current contents, a few of
the utilities are out of date:
   [omitted st]
   lsw-0.1 (now 0.2)
   dmenu-4.2.1 (now 4.4.1)

dmenu-4.5 is scheduled for a Christmas release.

I filed two wishlist bugs to remember doing this :

#650573: lsw: Please package lsw 0.2
#650574: dmenu: Please package dmenu 4.4.1

Have a nice day !

Bug#650394: preliminary tigervnc 1.1.0 package

2011-11-30 Thread Yaroslav Halchenko
Hi Laszlo,

Great to see efforts going forward ;-) What about making packaging
available in some public VCS (I would prefer/recommend GIT) so we could
collaborate more efficiently. Few brief comments (can't look in detail
atm):

* have you considered dh-autoreconf to help with the pain of regenerated
  files?

* as you could see from other vnc packages, /usr/bin/vnc* is managed
  through alternatives:

$ ls -l /usr/bin/*vnc* | grep altern
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 22 Jan 21 2010 /usr/bin/Xvnc -
/etc/alternatives/Xvnc*
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 27 Jan 21 2010 /usr/bin/vncconfig -
/etc/alternatives/vncconfig*
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 27 Jan 21 2010 /usr/bin/vncpasswd -
/etc/alternatives/vncpasswd*
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 27 Jan 21 2010 /usr/bin/vncserver -
/etc/alternatives/vncserver*
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 27 May 22 2009 /usr/bin/vncviewer -
/etc/alternatives/vncviewer*
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 29 Jan 21 2010 /usr/bin/x0vncserver -
/etc/alternatives/x0vncserver*
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 28 May 22 2009 /usr/bin/xvncviewer -
/etc/alternatives/xvncviewer*

so it would be great to adopt this strategy for this package as well

* would be great similarly to split out server and client into separate
packages

* what kind of error were you getting while hitting that problem with building
twice in a row? I have tried on a stable Debian system, and succeeded to
do fakeroot debian/rules build, clean, build

* jpeg library is probably not just libjpeg (didn't look what is from it
there) but extended one with turbojpeg, which ideally indeed should be packaged
separately... FWIW it is already present in few other packages:

$ zgrep turbojpe ~/deb/docs/Contents-sources.gz
chromium-browser: src/third_party/libjpeg_turbo/turbojpeg.h
chromium-browser: src/third_party/libjpeg_turbo/turbojpegl.c
ssvnc: vnc_unixsrc/vncviewer/turbovnc/turbojpeg.h
x11vnc: x11vnc/misc/turbovnc/turbojpeg.h

* zlib -- I don't see any commits in tigervnc repository hinting on them
patching it (besides build system)... they carry 1.2.5 version which is already
in Debian unstable (stable carries 1.2.3.4) so it would be ok to use
system-wide available one so little patching I guess is due to make that happen

NB I don't know if 1.2.3.4 is API compatible, so it might make sense to carry
copy of zlib along in the sources so it could be easily used while
building backports (which I would hope to be able to do)

Hope this of some help ;) keep on good work

 Hi Yaroslav,

I've made a preliminary tigervnc package[1]. It builds and seems to be
working. However it has some problems, like debian/copyright is not DEP5
compatible and due to upstream issues it can't be build two times in a
row. Even worse, upstream tarball contains embedded code of libjpeg and
zlib1g. Only libjpeg seems to be used from the system.

 Cheers,

Bug#614517: Taking over packaging libgit2

2011-11-30 Thread Niibe Yutaka
since it's been a while and the bug hasn't gotten anywhere, I'd like
to take over this ITP, if you don't mind.

Please go ahead.

Just FYI, I uploaded once, but it was rejected because I was careless
about a build script copyright and license (which my debian/rules
didn't use at all). I couldn't put my priority to fix this minor
issue.

Bug#647090: Status Check

This sounds like there a lot of people involved, but I suppose if we
all pitch in we should be able to keep on top of the package? ;)

Sure :) As stated in #636012, the Vcs-Git field does not point to
 packaging.

From what I understood, the packaging is at :

  git://git.webconverger.org/git/public/suckless-tools

 and not :

  git://webconverger.org/git/public/suckless-tools

I suggest we clone the former to alioth under collab-maint and make
Vcs-Git point there, so that we can all contribute. What do you think?

Getting it to collab-maint will be really great. I did the same for
Kai's previous package dwm.

Having a quick look at the suckless-tool's current contents, a few of
the utilities are out of date:
   [omitted st]
   lsw-0.1     (now 0.2)
   dmenu-4.2.1 (now 4.4.1)

dmenu-4.5 is scheduled for a Christmas release.

I filed two wishlist bugs to remember doing this :

#650573: lsw: Please package lsw 0.2
#650574: dmenu: Please package dmenu 4.4.1

 Have a nice day !

Bug#650394: preliminary tigervnc 1.1.0 package

2011-11-30 Thread Ola Lundqvist
Hi Laszlo

Yes this is really good news. If you want some help on the alternatives
part and splitting the package I can probably do that. I sort of got the
hang of it after doing that for four different Vnc suites. :-)
