Bug#660317: RFA: docvert -- converts word processor files to HTML

2012-02-18 Thread Francois Marier
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

As I have been unable to find the time to properly take care of the
docvert package, I would like to find a new maintainer for it.

The package is in a good shape, but it needs to be upgraded to the latest
upstream version. (Note that the new version of docvert is now in Python.)

Bug#635516: Packaging of dvdstyler

2012-02-18 Thread Fabrice Coutadeur
Hi,

I'm maintaining dvdstyler in Ubuntu and I'd like to try to get it
uploaded to Debian, under the Debian multimedia umbrella.
Last upload get rid of mplex dependency, meaning that it got almost
everything needed to build in sid: the only missing piece is media lib
in wxwidgets2.8.

Would you mind if I assign this bug to myself and work on it?

thanks,
Fabrice

Description : automatic configure script builder (Thomas Dickey's version)

This hacked version of autoconf is required to bootstrap ncurses and
some other packages maintained upstream by Thomas Dickey. It should
not be used for other purposes.

Yet another autoconf version, as if the four that we already have in the
archive weren't enough. :-( But it is needed for ncurses if we ever
need to patch configure.in, see #580190.

Bug#646208: BTS Pending tags

2012-02-18 Thread Stefan Fritsch
Hi,

On Saturday 18 February 2012, Jean-Michel Vourgère wrote:
I've been sorting bugs. Count is now bellow 100, but that still is
a long list of things to watch.
So I plan to tag pending the ones fixed in the next git branch of
Alioth, without fixed version since 2.4.1 will be officially out
in a couple of days, and I'm not sure what next version will be.

This will reduce a lot what I have to look at. And you can check
yourself if you forgot some Closes: in the Changelog.

Do you think that's ok / a good idea? Any suggestions?

Thank you very much for your help with the bugs, Jean-Michel. I agree
that tagging the bugs fixed in 2.3/2.4 as pending is a good idea.
Please go ahead.

Cheers,
Stefan

  Programming Lang: Python
Description : plugin-driven notification system for GNOME

Mumbles is a plugin-driven, DBus based notification system written for
the GNOME desktop. Similar to libnotify notifications and Growl for
Mac OS X, Mumbles aims to provide a modern notification system for the
GNU/Linux desktop. It includes plugins for applications such as
Pidgin, Firefox, and Thunderbird, Growl network notification support,
and themes.

Upstream ships a debian/ directory in tar.gz so probably the sources
needs repackaging, to have a cleaner Debian diff.gz.

Hi

Packaging mumbles probably does not make sense anymore. Upstream
homepage is not present anymore and with GNOME3 this might be
obsolete.

Bug#660354: O: frozen-bubble -- Pop out the bubbles!

2012-02-18 Thread Josselin Mouette
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I am hereby orphaning the frozen-bubble package. The new SDL Perl
bindings require an update of frozen-bubble to version 2.2.1~beta1.
However in this version, in order to support Windows, upstream decided
to switch to a NIH build system that needs Perl modules to run perl
scripts to generate perl makefiles that run perl scripts that finally
build a perl program.
Insert here a picture of DiCaprio frowning.
  PERLCEPTION

Maintaining this game has been a lot of fun but it obviously needs to be
passed on to someone who knows how to maintain NIH perl build systems.
I certainly do not intend to maintain new CPAN modules just for a build
system.

The package description is:
Frozen-Bubble is a clone of the popular Puzzle Bobble game, in which
you attempt to shoot bubbles into groups of the same color to cause them
to pop. It features 100 single-player levels, a two-player mode, music
 and striking graphics.
 .
This game is widely rumored to be responsible for delaying the Woody
 release.

I have put an updated version of the packaging in collab-maint’s SVN
repository, so anyone feel free to pick it up and start over.

Cheers,

Bug#660405: ITP: libpackage-new-perl -- simple base package from which to inherit

2012-02-18 Thread Florian Schlichting
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Florian Schlichting fschl...@zedat.fu-berlin.de

* Package name: libpackage-new-perl
  Version : 0.07
  Upstream Author : Michael R. Davis michaelrda...@perl.com
* URL : http://search.cpan.org/perldoc?Package::New
* License : BSD
  Programming Lang: Perl
Description : simple base package from which to inherit

The Package::New object provides a consistent constructor for objects,
similar to Package::Base or Object::Tiny. It provides the methods 'new'
and 'initialize', as well as a methode 'dump' for debugging through
Package::New::Dump.

libpackage-new-perl is a new dependency of
libgeo-googleearth-pluggable-perl.

Bug#659620: RFP: wview -- Weather station daemon

2012-02-18 Thread Mark Teel
I am Mark Teel, the developer for wview. I have created a debian package
for wview and one for radlib which I provide to wview users via a simple
repository I implemented on my http server.

I am very open to official inclusion in the debian repository. I do not
have time or desire to be the package maintainer for an official debian
package. Further, radlib would also require inclusion as it is a firm
prerequisite for wview. If Mr. Speight is proposing to be the package
maintainer I will gladly support his or anyone's efforts.

To answer the specific concerns:

Running as a daemon user instead of root -
This is something I plan to do in the near future.

More modular install -
An enhancement to be considered in the future. Most users want the
simplicity of a web-based configuration requiring apache and php-sqlite.

Setup questions to be debconfised -
I'm sure that is easy to accomplish.

Mixed licensing -
Apparently the packaging itself is or defaults to GPL-3. There is no
conflict within wview (GPL-2) or radlib (BSD).

Admittedly I may have taken some shortcuts when creating the packages. A
dedicated package maintainer could provide value in that regard.

(I'm not sure whether this is RFP or RFA, as a package exists, but it's
not in Debian's archive - please re-title if necessary).

* Package name: wview
   Version : 5.19.0-1
   Upstream Author : Mark Teelmteel2...@gmail.com
* URL or Web page : http://www.wviewweather.com/
* License : GPL2 and GPL3
   Description : Weather station daemon

I've been using the Debian package from upstream for half a year or so
now, but there are benefits from being able to move the package into
Debian properly:

* Easier for new users to find and install
* Easier to keep in sync with mixed distributions (stable/testing or
   testing/unstable)
* Standard bug tracking and patch submission process

There are a few issues I'd like to see addressed, but shouldn't stand in
the way of this RFP:

* Daemon should run as a daemon user, not as root.
* It would be nice to have more modular install - e.g. I'm recording
weather recording to my database, but I don't want or need the HTML
generator. I shouldn't have to install components (and their
   dependencies) which I turn off.
* Set up questions should be debconfised.

The upstream packaging has mixed license terms (all DFSG, AIUI):

/[ copyright ]
| This package was debianized by Mark Teelmteel2...@gmail.com on
| Thu, 19 Nov 2009 16:09:27 -0600.

The radlib-dev package which is a dependency is mixed BSD and GPL3:

/[ copyright ]
| This package was debianized by: Mark Teelmteel2...@gmail.com on
| Mon, 16 Nov 2009 21:09:51 -0600
|
| It was downloaded from: http://radlib.teel.ws
|
| Upstream Author: Mark Teelmteel2...@gmail.com
|
| Copyright (C) 2001-2009 Mark Teelmteel2...@gmail.com
|
| You are free to distribute this software under the terms of the BSD License.
| On Debian systems, the complete text of the BSD License can be found in the
| file `/usr/share/common-licenses/BSD'.
|
| The Debian packaging is Copyright (C) 2009 Mark Teelmteel2...@gmail.com
| and is licensed under the GPL version 3, and can be found in the file
| `/usr/share/common-licenses/GPL-3'.
\

I don't see anywhere in either license that specifies invariant sections
or cover pages for the GPL-3 part; I believe there are no invariant
sections and no cover pages.

I've included upstream (Mark Teel) on this RFP in case he has opinions
for/against his package entering Debian, or can contribute further
relevant information.
