Bug#543880: Performed QA upload

2012-03-18 Thread Arthur de Jong
I did a QA upload of pyneighborhood to fix most of the outstanding
packaging issues. Since the package was otherwise bug-free I think
keeping it is better than removing it. I don't use it myself so didn't
upload a new upstream release.

If anyone wants to pick this up, the packaging is in the Python
Applications Packaging Team repository.

  Version : 1.12
  Upstream Author : See URL
* URL or Web page : http://pypi.python.org/pypi/ssl/
* License : Python (MIT-like)
Description : SSL wrapper for socket objects

Hello,

The old socket.ssl() support for TLS over sockets is being superseded
in Python 2.6 by a new 'ssl' module. This package brings that module
to older Python releases, 2.3.5 and up (it may also work on older
versions of 2.3, but it is untested).

This Python module can be found on http://pypi.python.org/pypi/ssl/

It's quite similar to the 2.6 ssl module, which is documented on
http://docs.python.org/dev/library/ssl.html

Adding it to Debian would :
  - make pre-2.6 Python installations compatible with programs that
make use of the new ssl module ;
  - bring new SSL-related features into the current Python packages,
such as certificate validation against trusted authorities.

I plan to use it to add SSL certificate validation support to
OfflineIMAP, in a way that is backward-compatible with older
Python versions.

Thanks,
bye,

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

Thank you very much, Damian, for your fast reply to my former bug. It
encouraged me to submit another one :-)

We know how often a programme builds OK, but does not do what we expected.
That is where the debug comes into the game. Why not integrate gdb inside
the IDE?: in order to be able to execute line by line, execute loop by loop,
execute up to a specific line in the code, etc.

Has it been proposed in the upstream? If not, could you please forward it?

Thank you

Description : a documentation plugin for Geany

Geanydoc is a plugin for the Geany IDE which is intended to be used to search
for documentation API from different sources. It allows execution of specified
commands on the current word at the cursor position or otherwise specified via
a dialog to obtain this documentation. This documentation is displayed in the
geany buffer as a tab called *DOC*, or may be displayed in an external program.

After installing this package, you'll need to enable the Doc plugin
and then setup a keyword binding for it in Geany's preferences dialogue.

Geany is a small and lightweight integrated development environment using the
GTK2 toolkit.

Bug#624806: Reasoning and RFP content

2012-03-18 Thread Neil Williams
The reasons for removing insight were not mysterious, see #566579.
(embedded copies of other libraries is a substantial problem).
Integrating gdb into the insight source is a *bad* thing, not a good
one, it duplicates an existing package and would result in multiple
copies in the archive as well as on systems. See also #546825

An RFP bug also needs to document things like the URL of the package,
the licence(s) applicable and the programming language used. (Some of
those are obvious for insight, some are not) along with a likely
description of the package. (See any of the other RFP bugs filed
against WNPP).

Do you still want insight in Debian? (If not, this bug can be closed.)

Bug#447522: QtEmbedded build

2012-03-18 Thread Neil Williams
The problem with Qtopia/QtEmbedded is that it will have the same source
package as qt4-x11, so I've been working with Emdebian tools to prepare
a rebuild of qt4 which prepares a QtEmbedded build for armel. (The
usefulness of Qtopia/QtEmbedded builds for i386/amd64 are debatable
IMHO).

http://www.linux.codehelp.co.uk/serendipity/index.php?/archives/223-Qt-embedded-armel-for-Emdebian.html

http://www.emdebian.org/trac/browser/current/emdebian/trunk/qt4-embedded

armel packages:

http://www.emdebian.org/qtembedded/pool/main/q/qt4-x11/

deb http://www.emdebian.org/qtembedded squeeze main

As outlined in the blog post, if there is sufficient interest, I will
look at this again but each build currently takes 16hours.

Bug#654527: Consider gpdftext

2012-03-18 Thread Samuel Mimram
Hi,

After a quick testing of gpdftext, it seems that it only extracts the text
from pdf files. However, I tend to use my reader to read papers with
mathematical formulas and figures, which papercrop handles quite well, and
are lost by gpdftext. So, gpdftext is far from being an equivalent of
papercrop and I think that both programs deserve a package in Debian!

Cheers,

Samuel.

might have been better. So I'm starting over. Now that I got myself
all fixed up.

I can get a little crabby in the morning, but I don't regret anything.

 Thank you.
