Please consider adopting also some of the sub-deps (on RFA throughout), they

Bug#863370: RFA: pyomo -- PYthon Optimization Modeling Objects

2017-05-25 Thread Daniel Stender
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the pyomo package [1].

Thanks,
DS

[1] https://packages.qa.debian.org/p/pyomo.html

The package description is:
 Pyomo is a tool for formulating and analyzing mathematical models
 that represent real-world systems for complex optimization applications
 as applied in different areas of business, engineering, research,
 and administration.
 It's used to define symbolic problems, create concrete problem
 instances, and solve this instances with standard solvers.
 Pyomo provides a capability that is commonly associated with
 algebraic modeling languages (AML) and applications like
 AMPL, AIMMS, or GAMS, but has its modeling objects within the Python
 environment.
 Pyomo features a versatile set of modeling components, and supports
 concrete models (defined with data) as well as abstract models (defined
 without data).
 .
 For the processing of instantiated models Pyomo supports a wide range of
 independent solvers that could be written either in Python or other languages.
 Pyomo supports the general ASL (AMPL Solver Library) compatible interface,
 and has invidividual backends for solvers which some of them are available
 within Debian (GLPK, COIN-OR CPC, OPENOPT).
 Pyomo's solver manager could also employ the public NEOS Server to remotely
 optimize models if network access is available.
 .
 Pyomo was formerly released as the Coopr software library, and includes
 the PySP package (Pyomo Stochastic Programming) which provides generic
 solvers for stochastic programming.

I've taken a deeper look now and I'm stepping back. Uneasy package (modules
contain byte code),
probably dead (last release 01/2017, last commit 07/2017), it's not trivial to
recreate a working
setup (setup.cfg template etc.) - much overhead, and the reproducibility
problem from it appears to
be gone if upstream just updates (1.8 in flask-limiter, see #852482).

I am packaging this as a new dependency of OCRmyPDF's version 7.0.0
release.

I intend to maintain it under the Debian Python Modules Team umbrella.

This is a module for getting information about the cpu on machine. It's already
in the archive as a convenience package of bcolz and python-blosc. The package
is going to be maintained within DPMT, the binaries are going to be
python-cpuinfo
and python3-cpuinfo.

Bug#892111: RFP: prophet -- time series forecasting package for R and Python

2018-03-05 Thread Daniel Stender
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: prophet
  Version : 0.2.1
  Upstream Author : Ben Letham
* URL : https://github.com/facebook/prophet
* License : BSD-3-Clause
  Programming Lang: R, Python
  Description : time series forecasting package for R and Python

Prophet [1] is a procedure for forecasting time series data. It is based on an
additive model
where non-linear trends are fit with yearly and weekly seasonality, plus
holidays. It works best
with daily periodicity data with at least one year of historical data. Prophet
is robust to missing
data, shifts in the trend, and large outliers.

German article on Prophet in recent iX Magazine 03/2018, p. 94 sq.

Bug#913033: RFP: bcc -- bytecode-compiler for Linux kernel BPF

2018-11-06 Thread Daniel Stender
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: bcc
  Version : 0.7.0
  Upstream Author : IO Visor Project
* URL : https://github.com/iovisor/bcc
* License : Apache-2.0
  Programming Lang: C, Python, Lua
  Description : bytecode-compiler for Linux kernel BPF

BCC is a toolkit for creating efficient kernel tracing and manipulation
programs, and
includes several useful tools and examples. It makes use of extended BPF
(Berkeley Packet
Filters), formally known as eBPF, a new feature that was first added to Linux
3.15.

BCC makes BPF programs easier to write, with kernel instrumentation in C (and
includes a
C wrapper around LLVM), and front-ends in Python and lua. It is suited for many
tasks,
including performance analysis and network traffic control.

Appearently this isn't available yet (there is a binary package of that name
which belongs to the source package linux86). Upstream already ships a debian/
folder, the binary packages build with that are libbcc, python-bcc, bcc-lua and
bcc-tools.

Thanks,
DS

Little tool for marking things in Python code as deprecated. Like
python-deprecation
which is already in the archive [1], however bloscpack >= 0.16.0 [2] uses this
one.

Bug#934964: RFP: afl++ -- security related binary fuzzer (fork of American Fuzzy Lop)

2019-08-17 Thread Daniel Stender
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: afl++
  Version : 2.53c
  Upstream Author : Marc Heuse
* URL : https://github.com/vanhauser-thc/AFLplusplus
* License : Apache-2.0
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : security related binary fuzzer (fork of American Fuzzy Lop)

This is a fork of American Fuzzy Lop [1], which isn't actively further developed
anymore [2]. The latest release of AFL++ includes a lot new features, fixes and
improvements.

Packaging this would replace AFL in the Debian archive [3], which doesn't build
with
LLVM >= 7 [4], and therefore is going to be removed so that LLVM 6 could be
finally
dropped.

Daniel Stender
