I've just noticed that this bug (50949, xbase-clients: [xmodmap] all line numbers are off-by-one) was tagged 'wontfix' back in April by Brice Goglin with no explanation (at least, "Automatically generated email from bts, devscripts version 2.10.2" doesn't seem very explanatory to me...)
