Thanks for investigating. I have the same symptoms with 2:2.1.0-2,
but then the chvt hack does not work (neither does restarting the X
server), and it is convinced my external monitor is a TV with a max
refresh of 30Hz. The latter may be an unrelated xrandr issue.
