I can confirm that uninstalling the xserver-xorg-video-intel and using
the modesetting driverfixed the issue.
PS:
And removing a custom config file that caused the any other driver
from failing to load.
ie:
/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/BLAH.conf
