The feature should be available in SM. If
you have in your global.cfg
AUTOWHITELIST ON
This will allow any address in your
address book to be whitelisted.

I looked around for an answer to this question about a year ago when we
first switched to SmarterMail and couldn't find anything. While
AUTOWHITELIST takes care of addresses in the
