[Declude.JunkMail] Trustic not trusty?
I've lowered the weight on Trustic in the last few days ... I'm getting too many false positives ... I'm seeing IP's marked un-trusted that are only being reported by one person. Yesterday, saw the IP of Cnet.com blocked ... when I looked on Trustic for the IP report, it was based on 3 reports, all from the same person, who submitted spam for newsletters he has received from Cnet. My experience has been that Cnet newsletters are purely subscription, and you can easily remove yourself from them. Other similar instances ... ARRL (American Radio Relay League -- national ham radio organization) blocked ... based on 2 reports, again legitimate newsletter subscription ... Anyone experiencing the same thing? It appears that the multiple reports I'm seeing from indvidual accounts are automated submissions, because they will have 6000 submissions to their names ... I really don't want to play the game of having to resubmit positive reports more times to change the weighting. Their has been an overwhelming request for this much more than I have anticipated. I am setting up a webpage for this. I have to get the documentation together, because there are a lot of options that need to be documented so that you will actually be able to use. Hello, All, I've been reviewing the current v1.75 GLOBAL.CFG versus my current GLOBAL.CFG and I had some questions about 3 tests... OSSOFT OSSRC WIREHUB-DNSBL The WIREHUB-DNSBL looks like it has been replaced by EASYNET-DNSBL. Is that correct? OSSOFT is no longer in the v1.75 GLOBAL.CFG. Is this test no longer any good? Because it still seems to be helping out in my current weight-based system. OSSRC is still in GLOBAL.CFG but it has been commented out and moved to the Not Commonly Used section. Does anyone know why this was changed? It also still seems to be a valid test and it's not a pay service so I don't understand the move. Some-much of this local/remote distiction can be resolved by running Declude infront of/seperate from your actual email server. The negative is that it kills auto whitlising. FYI Spamdomians failed this. Which it should have based on my SP entry ofcom.although it was a valid email. Its an invoice sent by someone to my client though intuits online invoicing system. What is everyone using for "com." Title: Message I think that while the spamdomains test is wonderful, many people are trying to overuse it as a test. IMO it is there to protect against forgeries of the major e-mailservices, and it does that task great. It's usefullness declines when it is used in a greater fashion. For example, we stop a couple hundred e-mails that use aol, msn, hotmail, yahoo, etc, but we stop only 1-3 on smaller domains. Using this test for the smaller domains isn't worth the false positives that it produces. But again in the defense of spamdomains, this isn't "his" fault. It just wasn't mean for that... If you're describing % of false positives/negatives, it can't be done automatically. Any system smart enough to tell what should have from what shouldn't have to calculate the difference would simply do as it should and be 100% accurate. I get my numbers by taking the total messages and dividing it into the number of human perceived mistakes. In and of itself its not exact, but it works wonders for comparative purposes when each calculation is done the same way with the same margin for error. Just make sure to use a large enough period of time, for me a week is minimum.
