RE: Re[2]: [Declude.JunkMail] 4000020e with Outlook 2003
I had seen the problem with a beta install of Outlook 2003 and had hoped that the release version would have that worked out. I soon found that to not be the case. Of course, I've seen other programs (Goldmine is a notable example) that trip the spamheaders test. Forms from webpages fail it as well. I still assign the test a weight (and a fairly high one, at that), but the action for that test itself is just set to SUBJECT in my config. ~Katie -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Scott Winberg Sent: Monday, November 03, 2003 2:50 PM To: DLAnalyzer Support Subject: Re[2]: [Declude.JunkMail] 420e with Outlook 2003 Build I have is: 11.5608.5606 (release build) Scott Monday, November 3, 2003, 1:13:32 PM, you wrote: DLAnalyzer Is anyone else compensating for this with a filter? RE: [Declude.JunkMail] ldeliver interpretation
Okay, so is there a way I can get a count before scanning by Declude? I want concrete data to take to a meeting where we will evaluate if a new machine or upgrade is necessary. CPU usage has been very high with smtp and Declude being the biggest users. The machine is 400mhz w/ 384mb ram. CPU average this afternoon has been 68% but hangs at 100% for long periods at a time. Ldeliver count for yesterday was 20,699 and rdeliver was 3,725. As always, I appreciate your help. Thanks, Katie -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of R. [Declude.JunkMail] A little CMA documentation for Outlook 2003 RFC non-compliance
Title: Message Hi there, I have a customer who was having trouble with his messages sent to users on servers that use spam filters not being delivered. I had him send a message to me so I could see what tests it fails. As some of you may have already guessed, he's got a new pc with Outlook 2003 and the messages fail the spam headers test. I informed him that among mail server and/or spamfilter administrators this is a known issue. So, he calls MS. MS says it's OEM software, call the vendor. Dell says I'm full of it. So... Would someone with more thorough and better understanding than mine please send me something (with permission to quote or I'd just lift from archives) that I can send to this customer? I'm looking for what it is that Outlook 2003 does wrong and what RFC it is not conforming to. He wants to then show it to Dell and request an exchange for Office 2002. I would much appreciate it. I'm sorry to make this issue that isn't really mine yours too. But, it might just be handy to have this kind of information on hand anyway as more people start using this product. Thanks, Katie (Who will try to stop gritting her teeth now.)
RE: [Declude.JunkMail] We can retire now
Title: Message My alter ego is a salesperson for a computer center (my boss owns the computer center and the ISP--I do sales for one and network admin for the other). At least once a week, often more, I get a call supposedly from a hearing impaired person using a relay operator. This person always has a different name but the same request--they want me to drop ship notebook pc's and charge them to a credit card. Now, these calls come through the ATT and Sprint relay services--legitimate operations. When I have called them they say they are aware of the scam but are legally obligated to perform the relay duty. However, they both told me that if I simply ask the operator if the caller is using a home device for TTY or is using an Internet siteI'll be given a straight answer. The scam calls are always using the Internet sites. We have "real" deaf customers here in town. They call using the Montana Relay, they can provide call-back numbers, etc. So, there are some ways of distinguishing the legit calls from the fraudulent one. In any event, I simply tell all callers that it is our policy not to drop ship merchandise ordered over the phone to be charged to a credit card. About two years ago we were asked to ship a large quantity of memory to a location in Colorado. It seemed odd that someone from CA would call someone in MT to ship memory to CO. The caller claimed they had been referred to us by one of our customers--which was plausible but it still smelled fishy. We declined unless payment was in the form of a cashier's checked. Another reseller in town fell for it. It was a big enough hit to hurt them very badly. They are no longer in business. ~Katie -Original Message-From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Kami RazvanSent: Wednesday, December 17, 2003 7:45 AMTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]Subject: [Declude.JunkMail] We can retire now http://msnbc.msn.com/Default.aspx?id=3730401p1=0 Good to find the signature for this email .. [Declude.JunkMail] Analyzing logs
Title: Message Hi there, I think I've seen reference to a means before by which one can analyze the Junkmail logs to see which rules or DNSBL's are being most effective. However, I can't find it again now. The Junkmail config I have on our Imail server is working well. I've been asked to config Symantec Antispam for SMTP on an Exchange server. No DNSBL's are currently being used. I'd like to see which ones are catching the most in my Declude Junkmail config as I am limited in how many I can use on the Symantec Antivirus product. Thanks, Katie
