That works, the problem is that someone else (or maybe even me) will
come along and remove the second private as part of cleaning up... I
have put a comment there, but I still dont like it.

I've been told by a couple of the guys here who were reviewing the Perforce
Trial that the merge/resolve tool which comes with Perforce is crap. They
then qualified it by saying that if you were used to text only unix compare

I've blogged about it before but I really like BeyondCompare. The
upcoming version 3 sounds very promising on the merge front and 3 way
compares.
I expect both have trials.

Yes, for a two-way tool Beyond Compare is really nice and we use it
in-house too by our support
Yes, I'm half way through it and would recommend it.
We need a Lulu service here in NZ to cut down on the shipping costs.
