However, in recent years when I can be bothered ...which raises another interesting point. We used to buy high-end to get speed. Then speeds plateaued, so we bought mid-end, for price. Now, we can barely be bothered buying at all. The current generations of hardware just are't compelling.

We traditionally purchased from Total Peripherals Group (TPG), The last few we've got have been Dells (2 laptops and a desktop), but I may go with ascent.co.nz or pp.co.nz in the future as you can customize until ones heart is content and their prices are not that much above wholesale.
