Re: [libreoffice-design] Citrus UI Whiteboards

Hy

I tried the new Unity version (5.2) with the new way to show the launcher :
It's pretty better : If you want the launcher, you will just push a
little bit more than if you only wanted to go on the left. I will continue
to use it, but I think it's not any more a problem.

  Hy everyone!

So just my two cents : In my opinion, having the insert bar on the left
 or
the right is'nt a big issue, more of that we could this...

Then about Unity, I know the new Unity version (uploaded in Unity Precise
(Ubuntu 12.04) PPA few days ago) introduce a new way to determine when to
show the launcher (it's not any more a simple timer if I understood
 well).
I haven't been able to try this because everything crashed when I
installed, so I had to return to the official Precise Unity version.
Anyway, this change should be uploaded in Official Precise soon. I try it
  when possible.

The main point for me : having the insert bar on the left isn't a
 problem,
as soon as we can move it. More of that, I'm sure that if it's a problem
with Unity, Ubuntu UX Team will choose to have the bar on the right by
default in the official Ubuntu repositories.

They haven't done this with Inkscape.
But, on the bright side, they're adding an option to only show the launcher
when hovering over the top-left corner of the screen (which was the
 original design).

Sure, but inkscape isn't in the default install, nor officialy supported by
Canonical. LibreOffice is.

I sees your concern, and have thought of this my self. but all the
insertion bar is, is a bunch of things that you insert into the doc.
unless
you need to make multiple tables or pictures, ect. , it wont be all
 that
annoying. but there will be some sort of option to change where the bar
  is,
so if it does aggravate people they can change it.

[libreoffice-design] Citrus UI Whiteboards

2011-12-08 Thread Bhaavan Merchant
I loved the Citrus UI mockups, and am looking forward to have them
implemented in Libreoffice.

However, my concern is that I currently use Ubuntu Unity 11.10. This has a
launcher on the left side which basically is in a autohide mode, and will
appear on my mouse-hover to that side. Now, in the citrus UI, if i want to
use the left panel, and I move the mouse to the left, my unity launcher bar
will appear out of nowhere, and overlap the libreoffice bar. This might
make it ergonomically difficult for people to use the left bar.

I havent used Gnome 3 much, but perhaps even that has a similar behaving
left bar.

Re: [libreoffice-design] Citrus UI Whiteboards

2011-12-06 Thread Mirek M.
Hi Andrew,

2011/12/6 Andrew Pullins android2...@gmail.com

 Mirek,

so on the page handles clicking on them will select the entire page.
 what page-related
commands would pop up. are you thinking of (format, colums, background,
borders, deaders, footers, foot note/end note, page settings)? perhaps
 margens, right to left text.

 Yes. Also page styles.

The Insertion bar. would it be possible for the hide insert bar to instead
of just hide the insertion bar to also move it to the bottom on the screen.
I know that you put it to the side to conserve virtical space for tablets
and netbooks, for they have smaller screens. but for people with bigger
screens this is not a problem. also for people such as myself who have a
tablet PC who occasionally put my tablet
into portrait mode, horizontal space becomes a problem.

I haven't given it much thought, but how about this: the toolbar could be
aligned to the left, to the right (for right-to-left languages and
operating systems with a launcher on the left), and to the bottom, so that
it in every case it can be associated with a hide button in the status bar.

so what I purpose is that clicking once puts it to the bottom. then once
more will hide it, and once again will bring it back up to the left side.
or we could make an option for it to go on what ever side the user wants
left, right, or bottom and the hide button still just hides it.

Yeah, let's keep the hide button for hiding only.

still like the over flow menu.

I like that you have set how the colors should change when the them changes
 lighter or darker.

I noticed that there is no menu to the right of the context menu. the one
that has the undo, redo, I think it was copy and past, search, and over
flow. did you just not purpose it yet?

Every spec is independent and therefore doesn't include other parts from
Citrus UI. (So, in the mockups, the only change from the current
LibreOffice is the feature described.)

Hi everyone,
I've started drafting specifications for independent proportions of the
Citrus UI proposal. Here are the first four drafts:
