[libreoffice-design] Flat Icons Wiki Page
Hello world, I've updated the Flat icon set wiki page https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Design/Whiteboards/Flat_icon_set Added the guidelines plus snapshots of the icons. I didn't know where to add it, but discussions of the icons themselves should go on the wiki page somewhere. ___ Regards, Issa Alkurtass Motah Program, KACST Warning: This message and its attachment, if any, are confidential and may contain information protected by law. Re: [libreoffice-design] Flat Icons Wiki Page
I'm not sure the icons should be discussed on the Wi k i, because it means lot of text on the same page (lot of icons to discuss in the same page), or lot of pages just for text (with one page for each icon). I don't know what we could use instead, the only other way I see is mailing list, but I don't know GIT enough, maybe there is a way to insert comments, something like that ? Then, I'm not sure about the Tentative Design part : why snapshots, then latest snapshots ? I think just the last snapshot, in context, is enough. The duplicate part don't seems me useful. Maybe just a snapshot of all currents icons and one in context ? Other question, where did you find the Gnome Symbolic icons for your snapshots ? How will these icons look with the 4.0 Persona backgrounds? Currently some of the icons use a transparent background, assuming that the background will always be white-ish. Some do not read well with the new backgrounds. Currently on my DEB install, the grayed out versions of Save and Redo icons are not visible, or barely visible to be almost useless, with my background Persona Designs. Those icons need the white-ish background to show up instead of the transparent looking background. Re: [libreoffice-design] Flat Icons Wiki Page
Thanks to Issa for his work. I wonder, if the icons could be a little bit darker, at this state they are barely readable. Or they'll look already better when implemented? Or is it better to discuss this on the wiki? Wouldn't two variants (dark and light) be a better solution to this problem? Whatever would work to make the icons stand out with the Persona design issues. Also, there needs to be an ability to use the Persona font color choice, for most of the good ones. We need to have icons that work for as many colors and shades colors of this new theme option for the new 4.0.x line. Once the font color issue has been taken care of, dark and light icon options might do the trick. Dark for the lighter background and light for the darker ones. As long as the contrast of the icon is high enough between the icons and the background color[s], it should work fine. Right now the contrast of the grayed out icons not allowing the icons to work on the backgrounds I use and some of the desktop window display/color options I have tried.
