Aaron and Salt and I met yesterday to discuss this and I've now
implemented these suggestions as far as possible.  The volunteer form
will later get migrated to CiviCRM so we agreed only to make quick and
easy changes to the current version. For example, the helper text I
suggested after /*Relevant work/training/volunteer experience:*/ should
ideally be either smaller text that is not part of the field label, or a
field hint, but for now it will just be part of the field label because
that was straightforward for me to implement.  Other recommendations
such as using checkboxes rather than a will also not be implemented
until we recreate this in CiviCRM.
