I'm looking forward to hearing other people's thoughts, but my view:

I like the light gray (warmer looking), but it's men's only, same with
Warm Gray (dark, warm color). Maybe some women will prefer that and want
to order a men's shirt to get that color? Confusing though.
Unfortunately, most people getting shirts at this time are men, but we
don't want to reinforce that trend.

The one other shirt that is available for both is Heather Gray. There's
a real risk that the ink colors against Heather Gray will be unacceptable.

So, for the initial order, I plan to *definitely* order at least one
each of Light Gray, Warm Gray, and Heather Gray so that we at least see
how they turn out in reality. If Heather Gray is good, we have another
possible option that isn't different for men's and women's. If the other
men's ones are good, we can take photos of them and show that by the
options link with label, although it's still quite unfortunate that
there's no women's cut of those colors.

Obviously, anyone here who wants to choose a different color is welcome
to do so. Incidentally, we need to decide something about the extent of
offering shirts to volunteers who didn't donate financially at the shirt
level but who may like shirts and are putting in good volunteer time,
and whether we want to mention a shirt-for-volunteering option in some
public statement.

Cheers,
Aaron

Oh yeah! I guess the thing about that was that it was an alternate dark
color, and the cool blue was definitely a *good* option we want to
emphasize. I'd be fine with highlighting Warm Gray as an option with a
mock-up alongside the cool blue if people think that' preferable.

To clarify: We have better dark shirts than light.

Cool blue fits our theme *and* is a nice color, so it makes sense as the
default for dark shirts.

Warm Gray looks likely to turn out good too as an option for those
wanting a warm darker color. Even though it doesn't fit the branding
well, I'd be okay with showing it as an option, but it can be ordered
regardless.

Note: the dark shirt is the snarky design though, so getting the nice
more mild design means going with a light shirt unless we make a new
design (easiest to avoid extra work would be a plain-logo shirt, boring
but okay).

For light shirts, the only clear option for both men's and women's is
white (unless Heather Gray turns out to be surprisingly light enough).
So, it seemed the most straightforward to just stick with white (does
match our branding anyway) while offering the option for people to
select their own alternate color choices. If we emphasized that Light
Gray seems nice, it would only be available for men's fit, and that
seems awkward to deal with presenting that.

So, do people really want to see the Warm Gray shown on the page as an
alternate dark color? Otherwise, is the mockup acceptable (white and
blue with "other options" links)?

Again, trying to fit all the values and make everyone happy and not
discriminate against women in our side of the decisions at least…
there's no way to avoid some compromises, perfectionism delays our
progress, and we have many other priorities.

Thanks everyone for helping us work through this!
