After upgrading to hplib-ppds 0.9.6-1ubuntu8 everything was just fine. I
reinstalled my printer and during reinstallation the proper driver
(hplib/hpijs) was detect automatically.
After the reinstallation, I checked the printer properties and the correct
driver was still selected.

Hello Matthias,
this will only happen, when CUPS is compiled from source and multiple language
drivers ( 1 per language selected per printer included ) are generated. They
all show up as standard through the gnome-cups-manager, while CUPS via
localhost:631 shows them with language indices.
Is there a log file someplace that I could access to provide more information?
Or any way to get a backtrace of the crash?

Further to the above rants, having done my daily dist-upgrade 2006-04-14
appears to have done a lot to rectify the situation:
1. Initially the dialogue is ppoulated with [EMAIL PROTECTED] .. If I sleect
Advanced and type in ipp://roo:631 ... etc, the dialogue will automagically
change and
I, too, see no real effect in Dapper Flight 6 with updates as of April 15, 2006.

Used live CD 20060414, there is no 20060415. My LAN printer is HP DeskJet 5850
with static IP 192.168.1.63. It is not detected by Gnome Printing Manager (GPM)

I dont have the G5 anymore, but i remember that even if i booted the machine to
init 3, and worked on the console, the machine would hang up, after a few
mins. If you hold down a few keys together the machine freezes, if you type too
fast the machine freezes, but on the native keyboard only.

On my AMD Athlon XP 1700+ it takes about 9 seconds to start gnome-cups-add.
A busy cursor should be displayed to inform the user he has to wait for a while.

issue. The same source package on Debian has no issue on boot. Changing S13gdm
by S99gdm has no effect neither so it doens't seems to be a boot order issue.
